NFL Football 2009

More like 3 out of 5 were "blowouts". I wouldn't call Jets over Bengals 24-14 a blowout. It wasn't that exciting, but 10 pt margin of victory in a statistically even game isn't what I'd call a blowout.

This might be proof that there are too many teams in the playoffs... even though Arizona did win their division... I don't know.

Winning the division doesn't mean much anymore (aside from a playoff berth, which is obviously important) when the divisions only have four teams each. Hell, was so-called "controversy" in 2008 when the Patriots didn't make the playoffs because the wild card teams were better yet there were division winners with worse records.

Textbook Colts game. Aggressive passing, just enough running, very good defense = 17-3 lead. That 3-out series that they forced on the Ravens leaving I think 1:38 on the clock was huuuuge.

True, but in my opinion the outcome was never really in question. The Bengals hadn't looked particularly good in several weeks, and the Jets just got done socking it to the Bengal starters the week before. Unless the Jets genuinely started having issues, there was no doubt in my mind that they would be moving on.

And we add another game to the list of not particularly good games. The Ravens killed themselves. Their offense in general sucked, and the few big breaks they had cancelled themselves out.
Big punt return.... no, block in the back.
Big interception return.... that got fumbled.
Another big interception return.... that got canceled out by a huge penalty.
Big Ray Rice run.... that got fumbled.
A sure fire touchdown.... that was underthrown and picked off. Not a good night for them.

Cowboys and Vikings should be a good game, but I think it'll ultimately come down to Favre the last second game winner vs Romo the game dropper.

Jets vs Chargers.... not so much. I really, really want the Jets to win, but I'm expecting the Jets to get blown out of the stadium.

JETS at CHARGERS? Whats your gut telling you??

On paper, the Chargers should roll all over them. But it would be really funny if the Jets -- a team that only made the playoffs because its final two opponents rolled over to rest up for the playoffs -- made it all the way to the Super Bowl.

did the ravens kidnap the puppy belonging to the football gods..
??
almost every play that started to go their way backfired..

The interesting thing about today's game between the Chargers and the Jets is that match up of strength against strength. The Chargers have such a great passing game, but the Jets are the best at defending it. This is the kind of confrontation I love!

Two interceptions on the same drive, both end up turning back to the Colts....that was pretty harsh!

I don't know what to think about the Cowboys/Vikings. When all else fails, go with home field advantage.

I'd love to see the Jets win, but San Diego should take care of business without too much fuss.

Almost complete surprise result in the Vikings / Cowboys game today. Favre showed up; Romo did not. A complete rout in every way for the Vikings. Vikings and Saints.... for so long that was the matchup I was convinced would determine the NFC entrant for the Super Bowl. Then in the latter third of the season, especially those last three weeks, I wasn't so sure anymore. It didn't surprise me at all that the Vikings won, but how easy it seemed to be.

ETA: Shon Greene just made the longest scoring run in Jets post-season history. (53 yds) Chargers had better get something together and soon, because it's getting very late, and the Jets' defense is showing no signs of letting up. A 2-score game with under 8 minutes to go?

Iet's getting tighter. SD scores with 2:14 left. They in essence have two timeouts, now with the 2-minute warning. Gonna be a fun last couple of minutes!!!! :techman:
