NFL Football 2009

Redskins cut Shaun Suisham after he costs them last week's game.

Seems to be lots of hatred out there for this guy, but I don't follow the Skins closely enough to fully know why.

I wonder if he's missed several other kicks. Not necessarily to lose a game, but this one ... even in those circumstances ... seems awfully harsh to cut him after that unless there was more to it.

I am curious if there is more to this as well... I just looked at his stats, and he's only missed 3 FG's (the one against the Saints and a pair against the Cowboys, either one of which could have won the game) and a single point after attempt against Tampa Bay the entire season. Admittedly, he's missed two in the past two weeks that he absolutely should have made, including that terrible shank sunday, but it seems like the got on the cutting train really fast.

That's all well and good, but it still doesn't seem like he was doing badly enough to warrant dismissal. What are the odds that the guy signed to replace him will be any better?

I was watching that game..I knew he was going to get axed by just looking at the coach's face. The anger was so "there"

They signed Graham Gano. That would be the guy who lost the Ravens' kicking competition to the dearly departed Steve Hauschka. Magic 8-ball says "doubtful".

Even though Suishan's a good kicker (apparently he's the most accurate kicker in Redskin's history), he has struggled lately. I don't think Gano will do any better, but I'm pretty sure he'll be cheaper.

Suisham also only completed about 75 percent of his kicks last year, too.

I don't know if cutting Suisham for whoever is much of a move... if they're actually expecting the new guy to be any better, they're a bit deluded. As it is it's just a scapegoating maneuver to settle the fans down.

The Packers have had their own anger inducing kicking lately. No reason to cut Crosby as I don't think there's anyone on the street who's any better. Our punting on the other hand has been in disarray pretty much since we let Craig Hentrich walk in free agency to the Titans way back when. In fact our entire special teams unit is a joke. The only one I'm willing to scapegoat at this point is special teams coach Shawn Slocum. Green Bay would be extremely tough for teams to deal with if we had merely average special teams play and an average number of penalties.

They lost to the Browns! The Browns suck ass!

Bwahahahaha!

This gives me pleasure until the Pats royally fuck up on Sunday.

As a Titans fan it makes me happy.
Now we still need to win out and have something like Denver, Jacksonville and maybe Baltimore lose as well in the closing weeks. I think that is what I put in that Yahoo! Playoff generator up thread.
Hey, here's to hoping.

I loved that generator thing too.. I need the colts to lose..and there was one formula I did where the Chargers/Colts ended up both 13-3 and the chargers won the tie breaker...great site. I played with it for about an hour yesterday!!!

You really see three losses for the Colts this year?

no...of course not. But you never know. I mean, what if Manning goes down to an injury? Well, to prevent this, they have already hinted they might sit him down early this year so he is there in the playoffs; sitting him down increases the chances of them losing. Hell, I don't even know who is back up is...
