Why was this game sold out today. Until Davis dies or falls into a coma to the point where he is forced to give up the team, this organization is in really bad straits.

Today's game was sold out? It looked like every third seat or so was filled in the second half, which was the only time I paid any attention to the crowd.

Well, the game was on TV. I guess the better question would be why are fans still buying tickets?

Damn it! I didn't think we had a hope of winning with all the injuries the Cowboys have suffered so far. But I thought we'd do better. I think Troy had it right, the loss of Romo exposed all the other flaws of the Cowboys. At least we can't lose this coming week; however, I can't help but feeling we'll lose another player during a practice.

So, could USC or Texas beat Oakland?

Though people joke about this all the time, I'll give a serious answer:

No.

Even the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the mid-70's would thrash any college squad that ever took the field in a meaningful game. The worst NFL teams are comprised of college's best players. It's the equivalent of playing an all-star assemblage with five years of experience.

Oakland—yes, even Oakland—would lay 45 to 50 on USC or Texas, and hold them under ten.

I have to wonder the same thing.

Not to potentially add to your misery, but what's Jamarcus Russell looking like these days? Has Kiffin's firing made him worse or the same or better? I know... when the team has -2 yds for the first half and 3 yds for the game it's hard to imagine anyone being better. But I have yet to see him play in a game this year.

He's been worse. I'm not ready to call him a bust quite yet, but it looks like he's really regressed in the last month.

I wouldn't call him a bust just yet either, unlike the other #1 QB pick across the Bay. I don't think ANYONE could play well given the half-assedness of the Raiders' system.

I suppose the Raiders could always wait and sign Michael Vick......

Given this is Al Davis we're talking about, there might actually be some validity in that statement.
That's what I'm afraid of, that the Raiders are headed back to their "halfway house" type of roster.

In other notes, I'm glad to see Byron Leftwich getting some serious production when he's in the game. He put on a good performance for Pittsburgh last night against the Redskins.

I was listening to Fox Sports Radio on my drive home last night, and J.T the Brick mentioned this exact possibility of the Raiders picking up Michael Vick. I have no clue if he was kidding or not, and wasn't in the car long enough to hear the actual story if there was one.

And a few more bite the dust. Andre Hall is out for the season (not a big loss) and Pittman is joining him on IR (this will hurt a bit more). I think it's high time we get someone else to step up in that back field...

Regarding JaMarcus Russell's regression, how good could you possibly be when you're new to the NFL and have coaches and coordinators getting fired left and right and their replacements bring in new offensive schemes?

And speaking of Michael Vick and the Raiders, DeAngelo Hall said he'd put up the rest of his $70 million contract as collateral against Vick ever getting in trouble again. However, it appears that Al Davis is looking to cut Hall and/or Javon Walker -- their two big money acquisitions in the offseason -- so he doesn't have to pay them. Halfway through the season.

Who's ever going to want to sign a contract with the Raiders now?

I couldn't imagine being a Raiders fan. How could you be a fan of a team where you want the owner to die so they can become good?

Reminds me of Alex Smith. :guffaw:

Hall's been cut in the biggest WTF I've seen recently.

I feel sorry for those poor fools who are so diehard that they'll come up with a way to rationalize this as a good decision.

Javon hasn't been right since Darrent Williams essentially died in his arms that night. I'm surprised he came back after that.
