NFL Football - 2008-09 Season Discussion

Too bad that's not what happened.

The Cardinals outhit, outhustled and flat-out outplayed the Cowboys, and their defensive pressure prevented them from playing their game. The cartoon implies that if both had come in on all cylinders that Dallas would've won, and it just ain't so—not any longer, that is. You didn't hear the Cardinals whining about Anquan Boldin's absence for their big game. Instead, they steeled themselves and decided, "So what? We're gonna whup their ass anyway."

And that's exactly what happened.

You could tell that the blocked punt TD left Troy Aikman with a taste in his mouth like he'd just fellated a huge turd. It was great. :techman:

[Sorry. Didn't see at first that the cartoon referred specifically to Pacman Jones, as opposed to the Cowboys as a whole. My bad. To his credit, Tony Romo had few excuses postgame, and afforded the Cards' defense its due. Despite the fact that he's a Cowboy, I like that kid.

The team itself isn't nearly so obnoxiously insufferable in its sense of entitlement as Cowboys Nation is. "America's Team"? Not my America.]

JM, I'm thinking that that cartoon has more to do with Pacman Jones being a fucking moron and getting himself suspended again.

You're absolutely right, Turbo. That's why I appended that bracketed section.

We can all agree that Pacman Jones is an imbecile.

Oh, and ... despite my dislike of the Cowboys, I must say that the acquisition of Roy Williams was a solid move. Good on them.

Whoops. That's what I get for not reading the full post. Sorry. :(

Ok, so Tony Romo might play after all? Just great. Am I supposed to start him or Derek Anderson this week?

Either Haslett is doing a great job or the Cowboys really miss Romo. The Rams are up 21-7 over the Cowboys at the moment.

What the hell is going on in Chicago

So this is what a football game without defense looks like

Congrats to both of you. And the Giants won too, so I'm happy as well. It's been a good afternoon so far.

49ers are fucking awful. Gore only has 11 carries for 11 yards, and JT fumbles the fucking ball away oh so many times. I already said I was done with Nolan last week, but this whole fucking coaching staff needs to be fired. Once again, it's week 7 and I'm starting to be done with Football. The Niners suck, the Raiders suck and have a senile owner, and football in the bay area is a fucking joke. Thank god the Sharks are good or else I'd probably be even more pissed off.

And it didn't help that the Bar I went to that had Sunday Ticket didn't know how to operate it. I didn't even want to stay for the afternoon games mainly because I can't watch the Raiders and most of the TVs were going to show fucking bull riding.

Granted the game isn't yet over, but with three quarters done and Green Bay ahead by 20, the odds of the Colts coming back are very slim to say the least. Especially considering their performance in this game thus far.

This...pleases me greatly. GO PACK! :techman:

With your luck they'll probably lose the coin toss to the 0-16 Bengals.

That is true. The Bengals aren't exactly lighting the world on fire this year either. The Bengals final game will also probably end at an earlier time of day than the Lions, so the Bengals may lay claim to the "First Team to go 0-16" title. The Lions can't even be distinguished in losing...

Oh my god. Rouse intercepts the ball from the Colts at Green Bay's 1 yard line and returns it ninety-nine yards for yet ANOTHER Packers TD. :guffaw:

Oakland...what a bunch of chumps. That calling a timeout before a FG shit should not be allowed. Good to see it come back to bite them in the ass.

I thought that was hilarious! Shanahan ices the Raider kicker last year to cancel out a winning score, and the Raider misses. This year, the Raiders ice a kicker and cancel out a miss, resulting in a score. They just have zero icing luck.

Personally, I think the timeouts before FG's are okay. As long as it's called before the snap, it shouldn't matter.
