NFL 2021 season - Belichick Strikes Back

Gary Bettman's inexplicable obsession with keeping the Coyotes in Arizona will end before Roger Goodell's tenure as NFL commissioner does.

Not all made-up names are lame, unlike the Washington Commanders' name. And FWIW, I was thinking of the lame made-up names of non-existent teams in movies and shows anyway.
I think it's a mixed bag. In "The Game Plan" "Boston Rebels" is a great name.

In what world would peccaries have any relevance to Washington, D.C., when the only areas of the contiguous United States they're found is primarily Arizona and a few other outlying areas of southwestern states?

Commanders is a decent-enough name, though I agree they should have made more drastic changes to the uniform color scheme. In any event, it's far less silly than some of the other team names in the NFL. Six months from now when training camps are open, we'll all be used to it and be fine with it.

Jaguars hire Doug Pederson as head coach.

I feel like Pederson is utterly doomed as long as Trent Baalke is calling the shots there in Jacksonville. We've already seen what happens when he sets fire to a team and then pours on some gasoline to try and put it out (ouch, San Francisco), and I truly have no earthly idea why he landed in such a top spot with the Jaguars.

Also, we already know what happens when Pederson gets into a power struggle with a jackoff general manager: Pederson doesn't have a particularly strong personality, so he metaphorically gets shoved into a locker and then they take his lunch money.

Rumor has it that they are bringing in former Vikings GM Rick Speilman to fill a role reporting directly to Shad Khan.

Though I don’t know why? He didn’t have much luck in Minnesota.

That ... seems incredibly odd, considering that the job was Byron Leftwich's to lose, but he said he wouldn't sign as long as Baalke was calling the shots for the Jaguars. Would Spielman be an assistant to Baalke? That just seems like a multi-headed demon of mediocrity.

Would Spielman be an assistant to Baalke?

He is apparently supposed to be above Baalke in the chain of command.

This is from Pro Football Rumors…

There are more signs pointing towards Rick Spielman being hired by the Jaguars. New details, more importantly, indicate that the position he is close to taking on would outrank that of general manager Trent Baalke (Twitter link via CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones).
