NFL 2021 season - Belichick Strikes Back

I dislike Tom Brady, immensely, but he is right on the money here...

The Buccaneers quarterback referred to NFL players as "ignorant" and it seems the thing that set him off was the release of Forbes' annual list of the NFL's most valuable franchises. Brady seemed to be especially irritated by the fact that the salary cap went down this year even though the NFL's 32 teams actually increased in value by an average of 14% (The overall increase was slightly surprising, but only because the NFL lost billions due to the pandemic).

Justin Fields could be the real deal in Chicago. Tua Tagovailoa still looks lost a lot of the time on an NFL field.

They may have babied Tua too much last year with FitzMagic there and ready to go in at a moments notice.

As far as Fields, a really good first day on the job. He looked more comfortable as his day went on. I just hope we have enough healthy o-linemen to keep the QB's safe.

He never has been cut out to be an NFL player. He should have been hired as a coach.

If he had switched to TE back when everyone told him to convert, he might have made it. He definitely had the physical tools. But there was no way he was going to make it waiting until his mid-30’s.

Perhaps. But as we have seen, he doesn't have good blocking instincts (he minimizes contact due to his years as a QB) and he never had great hands. He was a gimmick QB in college that thrived in a system built for him. The NFL was too fast and too good for him to do well, miracle passes or not.

In the multiverse, we’re both right! ;)

Let’s not overreact to what we see in preseason; Trubisky looked really good in his first preseason. Fields could be good but we won’t really have any idea until competitive football begins.

Hopefully Aaron Donald can give Mr. Fields a proper welcome to the NFL opening weekend.

Very true. But what impressed me about Fields was that he didn't get antsy under pass rush and when he moved out of the pocket, he seemed to know where his receivers were supposed to be. Still early, but he made a good impression based on what I saw.

If the Bears are smart, no matter how good he looks in camp/preseason, they won't rush him into the lineup. Let Dalton take a few beatings while your future watches.

I’m impressed by Fields. I told my Chicago-loving brother in law I thought they made a good choice with him.

We’ll see how long they let him sit and learn.

He is a bit full of himself. He said the NFL game was slower than he thought it would be... wait until Aaron Donald comes rampaging through the offensive line.
