NFL 2018 Season

If Denver needs a savior their is always Kaepernick out there looking for job. No neeed to give up draft picks. DIdn't they try to trade for him during his pre=knee taking stage of his career?

Jason

Colin Kaepernick has settled his lawsuit against the NFL. The terms are being kept confidential.

Given the history of labor lawsuits in sports, the only reason the NFL would settle rather than just letting the case drag on is if there's something really bad that may come up in discovery that they want buried.

On NPR yesterday they said two (unnamed) sources put the figure between $60 and $80 million.

That too lends itself to your theory.

They were willing to unleash the hounds on Richardson, so it's not like the league is going to circle the wagons around one single owner. There must have been some serious shit that they want kept quiet.

I know that Kaepernick was on a tough road, but I lost a bit of respect for him settling.

Depends what he does with the money, whether he abandoned his principles. He could use it to do more good than standing on principle would have accomplished, should he choose to.

After a point, is about principals or just return on investment? If you are intent on burning it to the ground, sure, go through the whole thing, get the news out there, and maybe you get 100m. Or things go badly and you get less. Or nothing. Or they will give you 80m now, you don't have to spend the time and energy fighting it for another year or two, lawyers' fees, etc.

There's easily a point where fighting it is stupid, because you risk some or all of the money for not enough upside.

Can lose respect for him for not attempting the Pyrrhic victory, but if his point was he got screwed out of money because the owners are assholes, and then they gave him the money he claimed he was screwed out of, why go through all of that and risk a judge or jury that likes big business and 'Merica more than the law? Lots more Trump judges lately, so there's some calculus to do before fighting the good fight sometimes.

Why?
It's not as if he going to change the institution all by his lonesome, and certainly billionaires could absorb the losses accumulated by a long trial - bad PR.
Take the settlement, secure your financial future, find a way to work for your favorite causes. He won, and won big.
I respect his determination.

We don’t know the conditions of his settlement, nor do we know what he plans to do with the cash. The true depths of his character have yet to be solidly revealed. We’ll probably never know all the details, but I’m sure we’ll see something in the coming year.

I lost respect when he said he wasn't going to vote in the next election. Saying both sides are equally bad. Sometimes that is kind of true but not when Trump is involved IMO.

Not voting is a sign that the person doesn't actually care despite what they might say. If you actually care, you'll vote.

You'd think that guy could afford a higher class of prostitute. Y'know, ones that come to you.

Ahhhh... Farewell, Mr. Kraft. We hardly knew ye.

And, yes, it would appear that Satan's hefty bill on the Pats has now finally (and quite publicly) come due.

Here's where the fun begins, Saavik!

In a completely surprising move, the Bears are set to release Cody Parkey.

Story

Thank fuck they aren't letting the stupid amount of money they guaranteed this guy make them feel like they have to keep him.
