NFL 2018 Season

Sometime, in a near dystopian future, we will all debating whether Brady can possibly still win after 75...

And sports broadcasters will be debating whether cryogenically freezing yourself between games in cheating.

Don't forget the debate over bionic implants! ;)

I love it! I mean, realistically we only need Brady 4 hours a week, 19 weeks a year. Throw in some preseason games and practices, and he only needs to be conscious for like 120 hours a year. If we're only aging him like 2-3 weeks a year, we can slow it down to him only aging at 6% of current rate, and Patriots can rule over the NFL forever! Or at least extend his last 2-3 years to last about 50 at that rate of aging

And Brady. 9 Super Bowl appearances. 6 Championships. Belichick has been on the sideline for 23% of all Superbowls ever played. You'll never see that again in your lifetime.

Love it. Hate it. But recognize how amazing it is in this age. You've witnessed history.
Indeed.

Also the amazing consistency, even in years they weren’t one of the favorites.

Number of years by number of regular season wins:
16 1
14 3
13 2
12 5
11 3*
10 1
9 1

*Includes Matt Cassell year

No losing seasons, at least 11 all but two years. The lowest they ever fell in 18 years was an average playoff contender.

Our grandchildren will be watching Tom Brady's head in a jar, a la Futurama.

By the way, did anyone else LOVE that ad that started out as a Budweiser 'Dilly dilly' commercial, but then the tone got weirdly serious, and a dragon came and incinerated the city, and it turned out to be a Game of Thrones commercial?

Yep! When I saw the gold Kingsguard armor after the Bud Knight got knocked off, I thought...wait a minute...that’s... and then... The Mountain, giving him the full-on Oberyn Martell treatment. And then the dragon.

It was glorious!

Now I'm picturing the Patriots unfreezing Brady at the start of a new season and he leads the way to another Super Bowl title, throwing touchdowns with his metal arm.

I'm okay with this.

As good as Brady has been over the years just imagine how even better they could have been if they had gotten hold of that other more highly thought of Michigan QB back in the day in Drew Henson. Then your talking about super extra powerful dynasty!

Skipping the Drew joke, it's kinda shocking that they've done this much despite a couple missed opportunities, too. They've cheaped out on WRs a couple times and probably cost Brady at least another ring, maybe two. Definitely 2006, where they still made it work with hot garbage, and were still a 4th and 2 conversion away from getting to play the esteemed Rex Grossman for an automatic Superbowl ring. And replay wasn't what it is now, looking at that spot again today shows they probably actually converted there. 2007 and the f*cking helmet catch, enough said on that one (other than can't believe no whistle for holding on the O-line prior to the pass. They were so shocked that he didn't go down, and then it got caught, that no one would go against it at that point). Crazy crap at the end in 2011, but Giants were just plain playing better there, so less salty about that loss ;)

Can dive into deeper stuff to really pick at it, but with a combined about 3", that's two more rings. Not to say they didn't benefit from things going their way in plenty of instances, just highlighting that two almost miniscule things mean that Brady would be 8-2 in Superbowls instead of 6-3. It's been an absolutely crazy run...

My bad, 2006 was the cheaping out of WR year, where Reche Caldwell (Who? Exactly) dropped an easy one down the sideline that would have done it. Yes, Pats blew a big lead after halftime, but still should have won with any professional WR. It was that bad. and again, Rex Grossman.

4th and 2 was the 2009 AFC Championship game. Replay shows it was a crap call, but is what it is I guess. That was the Saints year, so who knows what would have happened, but would have been better than what the Colts wound up doing. And yeah, 4th and 2 was a bad call, strategically, but half of the Pats had the flu, defense was gassed, and believe this was the year the Colts pumped in crowd noise in addition to cranking the heat because they knew the Pats had the flu bug. So figured a reliable Kevin Faulk makes the play and then they can kneel it out rather than making a dead defense try and hold In His Prime Manning.

So that's twice that the Refs decided they didn't need to see a Brady/Brees matchup I guess

Oh, and reliable Asante Samuel dropped a pick that went right through both of his hands nice and easy before the f*cking helmet catch, so Eli shouldn't have even had that opportunity. Damn it, 2007 still pisses me off

yep, acknowledged that in the post. Was just making the light-hearted comment that as crazy as this run has been, there's VERY little that kept it from being much worse for people that dislike the Pats ;)
