NFL 2018 Season

Moving a team across an ocean will be an expensive thing for the NFL. Teams flying about the globe during the week will screw them up, I don't see how the NFL would allow this. Canada and Mexico I could see, but not really anywhere else.

Unless they plan to extend the regular season with extra bye weeks for those teams traveling overseas, or at least schedule their bye weeks after the trips.

The NFL will offer an artificial salary cap raise and an 18-game season in exchange for a London team and realignment and, and De Smith will roll over for it like a puppy.

For the NFL, flying a team over ten to twelve times a year is likely cheaper than splitting the revenue pie even more by adding two new teams. You allow the Jaguars to move, you can essentially charge them what amounts to an expansion fee without a decrease in shared revenue.

Will enough teams buy into that and approve a relocation?

More than likely, since my money is on Khan relocating the Jaguars and then there being a clusterfuck of scheduling. Goodell has relatively full control of the Board of Governors, and he's had a weird fascination with London for years.

I don't see that there would be many teams that would have a reason to block it. London will generate (in theory) more money than Jacksonville.

The resistance to flying to and from London might give some teams a reason. But how many will think that far ahead when they see the $$$?

Most teams would only have to go every two-to-four years. Even inside their own division, each team would only have to make one trip per season. I think the travel issues are overstated. The team they'll impact the most will be the Jaguars.

What about TV? London is 5/6 hours ahead of eastern time. Would they be forced to play late games only?

Would probably have to kickoff around 5pm London time, on Sundays. They probably couldn't play Thursday, Sunday or Monday night games in London.

Manning is done. A shadow of himself. Everyone says, yeah, but those two Super Bowl rings.

So what?

Albert Pujols has those pennants and World Series Championship rings with the Cardinals, and he's --

Oh.

Sorry, @1001001. Won't go there. (Wrong thread, anyway. ;) )

Saquon is incredible; what a shame he's being wasted on that team. If this isn't Eli's last year with the Giants I'll be stunned.

I don't know if it is Manning or if he simply doesn't fit in Shurmur's system. I guess we'll find out if he plays elsewhere next year...

The only hope for Miami today is that Mitch Trubisky turns back into a pumpkin. Even then, I have a hard time seeing them pull out a win.
