NFL 2017 Season

Is it ok if I say the Pats defense looks horrible now? Not sure what Belichick saw in Gilmore, but he's just not getting it, and he's letting up easy plays in blown coverage. And then after the D-line makes a great stop at end of the game to set up a fairly easy FG drive (would have gotten it around the 50 to start), he gtes called for a second dumb hands to the face penalty this game, new set of downs, Carolina gets the FG instead. Yay?

I'd be worried if I was a Patriots fan right now. They have a tough stretch coming up. Ironic that Gilmore is underperforming considering the Bills are first in the AFC East right now with a good defense.

I mean, worried is relative. Do I love their chances at a repeat? Not as much at the moment, although they're usually much better by winter, so not jumping off a ledge yet. They're 3-2 with 4 more games against the dolphins and jets, so there's probably 7 wins without looking at the rest of the schedule (6 if you want to throw one in the 'any given sunday' bucket). Betting they don't go winless against the rest of the schedule, so they'll be in the playoffs. Brady's got a pretty decent record there, so not going to sweat it yet. After the dolphins, that's definitely the meat of the schedule and is going to be a bit rough if they keep playing like this.

Only tough game in the last 6 is the Steelers, and fortunately Tomlin is a moron and they'll come in with the same old 'we do what we do' gameplan that was worked zero times against Brady/Belichick. If he could figure out how to coach any better, they'd probably beat the Pats occasionally, but every time he loses, he doubles down on that same gameplan.

Not a great start to the season for sure, but not worried yet. Kind of so many other franchises to think of us, though, we appreciate the concern ;)

Really hoping for an end to the stranglehold that the Patriots, and to a lesser extent the Steelers have had on the AFC for so long. As a Colts fan, I can hardly talk given that the AFC representatives in the Super Bowl over the last 15 years have almost exclusively been a team headed by Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger or Peyton Manning but I'm pulling for a change in the guard. Chiefs? Texans? Titans? Raiders? Let's have some new blood succeeding in the AFC!

The Colts will be treading water at best until Luck comes back, likely to drag us closer to a 7-9 record.

Roethlisberger with 5 INT's today, including 2 pick-6's. I think the years of injuries are catching up with this guy.

Colts have a pleasant weekend based around the unveiling of Peyton Manning's statue, but mostly all it does is remind us how recent, yet how very far away those glory days were. Still, Indy's hanging in without Luck, steadily holding the fort somewhat until he returns... or, we just survived against the winless 49ers in OT.

Giants are still winless and have now lost OBJ. Ouch.

That injury to OBJ looked really bad

49ers are still really bad. 5 weeks in and I don’t see any kind of improvement.

Really? He looks so much older than that. Proof that it's not the years but the mileage!
After double-checking he's actually younger than them by five and three years, respectively, but yeah. Roethlisberger has a much more physical style of play than either Brady or Brees, who have always been pretty good about staying in the pocket and avoiding pressure or getting rid of the ball before the pressure could get to them. Roethlisberger is big enough that he could get away with taking more punishment.

JJ Watt out for the season. Again. He'll not amount to much next year if he comes back. I feel really bad for him.

Well, as a Texans fan, back to reality after that ass kicking from the Chiefs.

Look on the bright side. Next up is the Browns.

Well, crap.

The Rams have not come as far as I had hoped, losing at home for the second time this season.

5 turnovers, two of them inside of our own 20, one literally on the Seahawks goal line, a missed 36 yard FG, no running game at all, and we were still in it until the final play.

Damn.

:scream:

Yep, signs of life at least, it’s a good direction to be headed.

As hard as Brady has been hit this year, one of his best skills has to be ‘falling well’. Knows how to minimize a clobbering, sheds as much of the hit as he absorbs. He’s also good about the ability to just throw it away and play for the next down instead of trying to save every play, so some of those big hits don’t happen because he’s already moved on to the next play instead of scrambling out on a limb. Doesn’t always work, and freak hits are just that, but I feel that the way he falls has to be helping him stay alive. This year is testing that, though!

What a dreadful Monday Night Football game. 3-2 Vikings at the half. Looks like a (high-scoring) soccer score.

And the Giants fall again. To the Chargers! Well, at least I can rest easy that my Skins won't be at the bottom of NFC-E this year!

And the 49ers...my goodness! How the mighty have fallen!

And the Browns (of course) round out the three-way tie for the bottom of the League's barrel at 0-5. Maybe they should have kept RG3?
