NFL 2017 Season

Rams might be the second best team in the league. Bet you’re glad Fisher is gone.

Absolutely. I wanted him fired years ago.

That was a really big win for the Rams today. Dallas led at one point 24-13, ended up 35-30 Los Angeles.

Gurley had a monster day. I love seeing that. And so far Goff looks like a totally different QB than last season.

So far, so good.

:techman:

Texans got a winner in Deshaun Watson. That was the first time in Texans history they broke the 50 point barrier. And they've scored 90 points in their last two games.

Is it ok if I say the Pats defense looks horrible now? Not sure what Belichick saw in Gilmore, but he's just not getting it, and he's letting up easy plays in blown coverage. And then after the D-line makes a great stop at end of the game to set up a fairly easy FG drive (would have gotten it around the 50 to start), he gtes called for a second dumb hands to the face penalty this game, new set of downs, Carolina gets the FG instead. Yay?

I didn't see any of that game, but I was surprised to see the Pats lose at home to Carolina.

I saw 2-3 stories this week that were basically "What's wrong with Cam Newton?"

It's not too early to say the Jay Cutler experiment has been a failure.
See ya, Jay - enjoy the broadcast booth. Bring on Matt Moore and let's try to salvage something from this dumpster fire of a season.

Nothing is wrong with Cam Newton that leaving WRs wide open down the middle of the field won't fix! Gilmore has been disgusting for the Pats so far, just not figuring out the coverages and making bad guesses. And when you get called for a hands to the face, tic-tac of a call or not, maybe don't do it on a crucial 3rd down at the end of the game while your D-line is making an amazing play to win the game for you? Just a suggestion...

I feel compelled to listen to Chicago sports radio the morning after his debut just to see how many callers call him "Trubinsky."

I've said it that way once or twice. I think it sounds more "Chicago".

^Eh, think the Pats are better than the 7-9 2012 Saints. Defense is currently a shit show, and not sure how many more beatings Brady can take, but there's still solid talent there. If the offense can gel a bit more, should at least get them to mid-2000s Colts level, where the offense carries more of the load and the defense looks better by forcing the opponent into more obvious passing situations.

Just the division they are in should prevent 7-9 at the moment, Jet and Dolphins aren't setting the world on fire. So there's 3-4 more wins to add to the 2 they have, though should be able to win once or twice more at least this year ;)

Gotta get the defense figured out if they expect to go very far, though, Brady can't cover for everything. But if you score 30+ a game, you should at least be in a lot of dogfights

TBH, until The Lord of Darkness comes to reclaim Belichecks soul, and isn't dissuaded by Bill's offer of three first round draft picks and Giselle... I am expecting the Pats to go all the way.

For sure, when Belichick sold his soul in exchange for football greatness, at least he got his money's worth. The inevitable breakup between Brady and Belichick will be interesting if nothing else. Do they hang on too long, does Brady go elsewhere to prove he's still got it (and does he?), does Belichick do it again with another QB, or is it the combination of the pair that makes everything work, etc.

Hoping it is delayed a few more years, but end of next season is the first potential showdown, injuries aside...

Ugh...injuries, injuries! My poor Skins' roster continued to get eviscerated on MNF against KC, adding 3 new munged players to the existing 10 injuries already registered, although they shockingly gave as good as they got for the most part. I never expected them to win that game, honestly - the fact that they got as close as they did to doing so baffled me, but came at great cost. Several of the frontline players are badly injured and that game had been recently compared to the 1990 "Body Bag Game" between Washington and Philly (where we lost a record nine players). If they can recover from this and use the upcoming bye week to their advantage, they should have a fairly good showing against befuddled 0-4 SF in a couple weeks.

We're tied w/ Dallas for 2nd place in NFC-E and Philly at the top. Poor Giants! I think it's time for Eli to take a page from Peyton's book and retire. Their upcoming game this weekend against the equally-anemic 0-4 Chargers should be called the Whiffle-Ball Bowl!
