Great win by the Seahawks! People complaining about the face mask foul. They seem to think if the offsetting fouls had caused a replay things would have been different. I suppose it's possible, but the Lions had three more quarters to fight back while the score was pretty low and they couldn't catch up. They couldn't stop our relatively weak run game. Got no interceptions off a quarterback who'd had a rough time with them lately. Detroit just got outplayed all around.

On to next week...if our defense can stop Ryan there's a possibility of a close game. The way he's been playing though I wouldn't count on it. Time will tell I guess.

The Refs themselves admitted that the facemask grab was called wrong, i.e. not at all when it should have.

The Ref team was, to put it diplomatically, not very neutral.. they called stuff the Lions did but when the Seahawks did it like Pass Interference they let it slide such as a situation when a Receive was grabbed twice and couldn't catch it and the Refs said the pass was uncatchable so no Pass Interference.. no shit he couldn't catch when he was hindered 2 times and slowed down.

The Ref performance was quite uneven but who knows if it was critical enough to swing the game or the momentum. The Seahawks were clearly the better team yesterday (Rawls alone did a hell of a game) and won deservedly but it still leaves a taste of what if.

The refs also missed an obvious block in the back by Russell Wilson, which is hilarious since there was a ref looking right at the play when it happened.

Never liked offsetting penalties. The difference between the penalties should be applied.

Well, the Steelers got it done albeit in sloppy fashion against Miami.

Gonna be tough at Arrowhead next week. Tough place to play.

Ben has to clean up his stupid pics or its going to be a long game and a quick trip home.

If the Green Bay - New York score holds up, it'll be four games that weren't particularly close.

Houston's 13 point win over Oakland will be the closest one.

Those few NY Giants, especially Williams Jr., will now be crucified for their highly publicized New Year's trip to Miami so close to the Playoffs. I guess no one would have been able to stop Rodgers at this level (that Hail Mary TD will be played for years to come and sure enter some Top 10 Lists) but it was a very risky move and has a little unprofessional vibe to it (doesn't matter that you can do what you want in your free time but this close to a very important game you shouldn't be partying hard).

Great game although i only caught the first half since my vacation is over and i had to get up early.. thankfully i saw the Hail Mary TD live but just checked the highlights from the rest and Rodgers seemed unstoppable. If he continues like this the Superbowl seems realistic.

I would be curious if you could provide a source about the refs because I've seen both stories told, and a Twitter link supposedly from the head ref that says none on his officiating squad recanted on the call.

Not being argumentative, as I've been reading so much on it, so I'm curious were you heard or read it. There's been a lot of back on forth.

As for what if, it sucks that it leaves the cloud over that catch, but I still think the catch is crazy, and the Hawks would have taken it regardless.

Also, why, Giants, why?

It was talked about on the german TV show and the Refs told it after the fact to someone, can't remember who unfortunately.

They also talked about the Tweet from the Vice President of the Ref Association who clarified that it wasn't Obstruction for some technical reason (can't put it together now as i'm for sure not that in depth ruleswise as a professional Football Ref much less one of the chiefs of their association).

Never mind it was still one hell of a catch, obstructed or not.

Looks like the Chargers are heading to LA.

Kudos to San Diego for telling them to get lost instead of giving them billions, love me some smart cities.

Of course, Chargers told them they're out a week before the real deadline, so still gives them one more chance to change their minds.

Whole thing is crappy, but like SD standing firm on this one. Billionaires ought to spend more of their own money if they want to build something to help increase their profits. Either that, or let the city build it, but charge a high enough rent with painful out clauses such that the city makes their money back. Owners won't want that, so should be putting in some cash themselves.

but if they put their own money in, it's harder to threaten to leave in 15 years when you want another new stadium.

Sad to see. We used to love to take the kids to "The Murph". Seen many a football and baseball game there.

I've always though that the owners should purshase their facilities.... but that's not the way most cities handle it.

I'm trying to remember the last team that built a facility that didn't use tax-payer funds.

What's going to happen to Qualcomm Stadium now?

Well, San Diego has deferred maintenance on Qualcomm for more than a decade and it would take in the neighborhood of $100 million to bring it up to standards. Given the prime location of the stadium and parking lot, the best guess is demolition, with the land to be broken into parcels and filled with some combination of mixed-use development, city park space and an add-on to SDSU's campus (both student housing and lecture halls). Mission Valley would likely look to build a significantly smaller stadium for SDSU and the MLS team that the city is trying to get.

Which kinda says more about the Texans than it does the Raiders under the circumstances.

Yes, I am proud of San Diegans for standing up to Spanos. But I loathe the thought of yet another loser franchise calling itself L.A. Can't wait for the Raiders to come to town. Bolts will be playing in the 30,000 seat Stub Hub which they still won't be able to fill.

Sure is. Saw my first live Raiders game there in 1969. Huge parking lots.

'm trying to remember the last team that built a facility that didn't use tax-payer funds.
And in addition to the one's mentioned, we'll add Kroenke's Rams "Palace" to the list in another two years.

Just wait, if the Chargers don't fill StubHub and the Rams continue to draw 15,000 people at the Coliseum, Goodell will threaten to bring back the blackout rule ... to Los Angeles, and only Los Angeles.
