News Next live-action Short Trek has a working title and new director

That's four female directors versus eleven male directors, with ten out of twenty-nine episodes having been directed between these four female directors. That means roughly two-thirds of episodes (65.5%) are still directed by male directors.

Even less. Olatunde Osunsanmi is male.

I suppose you could add Doctor Octopus to that list who for decades was a mass murdering supervillain but has since been reinvented as a hero called 'Superior Spider-Man' and now resides in a cloned body of Peter Parker.
Add Doctor Who's The Master/Missy, Star Wars's Darth Vader (though he's an enforcer), various Cylons in Battlestar Galactica. It's not an uncommon trope.

I think the "prefers women directors" thing goes back to comments made by Robert Duncan McNeill, who'd approached DSC producers about directing.

Good on Robert Duncan McNeill for supporting the push for diversity, but it's not like they haven't been hiring white male directors. Looking at all the male directors so far, out of the twelve, ten to eleven of them are white men (the only one I couldn't confirm was David Barrett). So the ratio of white male directors to everyone else among Discovery's directors is 2 to 1.

I think Kpnuts is going to have to try harder on his whole "Diversity is bad" opinions.

Stamets - A white male who is brilliant and not evil. Or does he not count because he's gay?

Yes, straight white male characters are the only ones that matter to some people. Lack of these type of characters is the source of hatred toward Discovery from these dudes. So Stamets doesn’t count but Pike should and now he is gone.

Stamets, Anderson, Spock and Sarek were neither idiots nor evil...

I think Anderson might be stretching it.

I agree with the rest. Though those who have an axe to grind would point out Spock and Sarek were aliens and not representative of white men.
