News? Stories from Dubious Sources

I give absolutely no credence to any GFR scoops, but if I were to make up a rumour that fits with Paramount's approach to Star Trek, a Young Kirk show would be top of the list.

I've long been under the assumption that their end goal is for SNW to give us a new version of TOS, with Kirk taking over from Pike. They're already establishing a bunch of characters from Spock on Disco through to Uhura, Chapel and M'Benga on SNW.

I was guessing that Lt. Kirk would pitch up in season 2, but I wouldn't rule out his own show.

So I don't buy this specific rumour, but I wouldn't rule out that something like this could be in the works.

Unknown first command. Kirk and Mitchell. Kirk still dealing with Farragut demons. I'm down.

"Captain still dealing with his demons?" The fan film forum is a couple of lines further down on the main forum page. It's full of this shit.

I don't think GFR is entirely dubious, they have an entire page with confirmed scoops, their source for this scoop has had accurate ones before.

A broken clock is right twice a day, and if you post enough nonsense some of it's bound to actually happen. WGTC likes to frequently state that their rumors are from sources with confirmed scoops as well to give the appearance of credibility.

I thought the whole reason Ford did TFA was so that Han Solo would be killed off and he wouldn't have to play that part again?

Not trying to give credence to the rumor, but to be fair he already came back for The Rise of Skywalker.

I could be wrong, but didn’t Ford film that scene during TFA for inclusion in TLJ?

I believe the concept for the Ford cameo didn't come about until Abrams was brought in for Ep9. I suspect the intent was to fill a role that emotionally would've been handled by Carrie Fisher were that still an option. (Though not handled in the same manner.)

I'd go verify if that suspicion is right or wrong before posting this, but that seems a bit against the spirit of the thread, so I'll leave it for someone else to debunk.

The TRoS cameo is one thing. While I really wasn’t too fond of Ep9, it did make sense in the broader sense for Ben’s return to the light. Plus, from what I recall Ford and Abrams have a good relationship and he appreciates Adam Driver quite a bit.

Bringing Ford back for Book of Boba Fett and de-aging him to be a part of Fett’s team seems very much in the realm of wish fulfillment. With Hamill coming back for Mando season two, it could absolutely happen but I’m dubious. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Giant Freaking Robot isn't always right, smetimes down right questionable, but sometimes their rumour DO pan out.

It could explain the clip of the Enterpise F in Picard if she gets promoted at the end of the series to Captain of the Enterpise F to set up her own series.

If she does get her own series, does Raffi join her or do they break up and who or what else would you like to see in the series.

I think one or both of La Forges daughters could end up as part of Seven's crew as a TNG link.

I think this will take Picard's "slot", not SF Academy or Section 31 which honestly doesn't appear to be a popular idea with the fandom anyways.

I will be this series biggest critic and hold the writer’s and producer’s accountable for every line that comes from Seven of Nine’s mouth, as well as for all of the actions that she takes. I will be analysing every scene and creative decision in meticulous detail. I am sure that @Danja will be too.

And here I thought I had it on good authority that a USS Republic series is in development! A trusted and proven inside source told them!

LMFAO, Giant Robot is very hit and miss, but the Seven rumour is alot more believable then the USS Republic.

They are wrong sometimes, but they are right other times.

I believe they are a 3 on the reliblity scale, they are usually wrong, but they do have a few scoops like "First to reveal that Jameela Jamil would play Titania on the She-Hulk series".

It's believable that Seven of Nine gets a spin-off, because she is a popular character who just got revitalized, similar to Pike in Discovery season 2. Whether she gets a spin-off or not, GFR's reporting is no indication for it whatsoever. A thread for a Seven of Nine spin-off isn't a bad idea, IMO, as a lot of fans seem to like the idea (I wouldn't mind one either), but framing it around around an alleged news source, rather than just fan hopes feels a bit disingenuous to me (not to mention that Gal Gadot thread, which will probably get a bunch of people's hopes up, only to disappoint them when they learn who the source is)

When you shit out as many rumors as they do...y'know, stopped clock.

IMHO I think it'd be a smart move, smarter then Section 31 or Star Fleet Academy right now.

We will likely know sometime next year what the next Star Trek series will be post Picard. I mean it does seem like Tilly usbeing groomed to lead a Star Fleet Academy show, but in the current economic and cultural context, they could abadon it, in favour of an idea that they think will be more popular.

I did label this thread as Rumour in the title, should have done that with Gal Gadot thread too.
