That episode is very much about the journey. It is, by definition, a "what if" episode that occurs almost exclusively in a alternate timeline. It's nothing like using the big, bad reset button as a lazy way to get out of a tight spot."Yesterday's Enterprise" was the original "goes nowhere, does nothing" reset button episode. Not saying I don't like it...but I think it is massively over-rated. Because virtually nothing happens.
I'd rather take my chances on a professional filmmaker who's a fan of the franchise than a professional filmmaker who's trying to turn Trek into another franchise that he's a fan of.
Irony: Abrams' involvement in Beyond was tangental compared to the first two and--surprise--it was also better than the first two.Cinematic Trek should not be produced by the same man who has a series he treats more preferentially. I like the Abrams films alright, especially Beyond
