Spoilers NEWS FROM NY COMIC CON 2019...

Why is Riker in Kirk’s house? :)
I just hope the show is good. They are overwriting a lot of awesome novel canon for this. I just have a bad feeling it’s going to be rubbish.

That was exactly my first thought as well.
Maybe the PICARD show takes place completely in the Nexus?

Did the books go somewhere?

Even if it is rubbish, what harm is done?

They're definitely doing some degree of de-aging, so I imagine they had to rebuild his hairline after smoothing out his forehead

For almost a hundred years, they were able to give actors in TV and film decent hairpieces without relying on CGI. This is inexcusable.

I'm not following. The books haven't gone anywhere so if Picard is rubbish then there are still books.
What do you mean? There have been many books post Nemesis and Picard and his crew have done many things there. We’re getting close to 2387 now which is when the Hobus incident happens. It’s a shame we won’t get the novel’s take on that.

That's the risk with tie-in media. It's always secondary to the TV series and films. In their defense, the novel writers probably didn't think CBS would ever go back to the 24th Century. But, when reading novels based on a show (or a series of shows) there's always the risk that whatever they do potentially becomes invalidated by the next on-screen installment. That chance always exists, however minute. Comes with the territory.

They’re not asking where they’ve gone plot wise, they’re saying they still exist.

That they haven’t vanished from existence.

Ah I see.
I know that. I just mean that they won’t continue with the story threads created there. They’ll have to follow the new canon.

Eh, I don't have to follow the new story. I can still enjoy TOS comics and books with Konom the Klingon if I want.

Or, the book series were Kirk doesn't die on Veridian 3. I always liked that one.

I still have most of that comic series in my collection.
I think I'm missing one of the last couple of issues.

That's what I'm talking about! Worf before there was Worf.

But, yes, all the changes that PIC will bring are going to teach TNGers the same experience TOSers went through.

Lord Garth makes an appearance. Spoiler for a 30-year-old comic!

Heh...
When I'm gone, somebody is going to have a hell of a time unpacking and going through my 51 years of Trek collecting.
(since I was 10, when I got my first editions of the Tech Manual & Blueprints)

I believe at this point that I have about 45 Rubbermaid boxes of assorted toys (figures & ships), comics, magazines, newspaper clippings, convention paraphernalia and books.
:vulcan:

Heh...
I know this is sacrilege around here, but they are going to have to also sort out my 30 or 40 sets of Star Wars LEGO's also.

Just have it all mailed to me. I'll be happy to sort it for you, especially the Legos and toys :D

Can anyone make out the sign in the bottom left? There's a fist clutching a lightning bolt, and I'm guessing it says "VIEW NEXT YEAR'S HOLO TECH TODAY".
I spotted that (clearly meant to evoke a TV/electronics store) but it makes no sense in the context of TNG's universe. If there's no money, do people just walk in and take whatever advanced holographic tech they want?
