So Samurai Guy is actually a romulan. Is this the first Romulan with long hair? Looks like Dahj is the character at the center of the story who comes to Picard and Alison Pill's character is a doctor who was seen laughing with another guy.

I'm just trying to put the new characters together.

According to the panel, the original idea for brining back Picard started as a one off Short Trek, but then once they started talking with Patrick it evolved from there.

Alison Pill's character is the positronic scientist, so she is related to the android angle. How that is related to the Borg or the Romulans is anyone's guess. I think the shows themes however will revolve around marginalised people, Romulan refugees, liberated Borg and the androids.

I don't think that's quite accurate. Yes, the idea started out as a Short Trek, but it had already grown beyond that before Stewart was involved.

Samurai Guy is Elnor, played by Evan Evagora. The guy laughing with Alison Pill's character (Agnes Jurati) is the ship's captain Chris Rios, played by Santiago Cabrera - the glimpse of someone kicking a ball about is probably also him, as he was once a semi-pro soccer player. The other Romulan is Narek, played by Harry Treadaway - who I think is the guy we see Dahj kissing in the trailer. And the other regular cast member is Raffi, played by Michelle Hurd, who we see pulling a gun on Picard when he first goes to her and then commenting on him taking on 'another' top secret unauthorised rescue mission, which tells us quite a bit I think about what possibly went down in the past.

In the panel yesterday, they said that the two Romulans on the cast have had very different upbringings - Narek was raised a traditional Romulan, all strategy and manipulation, whereas Elnor had a very different upbringing and was taught to be extremely honest.

Interesting! It’s been years since I’ve read this (and I do recall it now). That “Cloud Game” they mention is not unlike the “Klin Zha” game, played by Klingon Thought Admirals in John M. Ford’s book “The Final Reflection”. Additionally, there is a rule variant of Klin Zha called “The Clouded Game” (Nearly identical to the one mentioned in the character bio) and a player in the game called a “Lancer”, the latter of which is mentioned in Konom’s bio, as having “excelled at the Lance”. Can’t be coincidence.

Is there a date of publication for this page? I’m curious which might have come first.

I'm pretty sure it's not a coincidence, there was a lot of back and forth with the comics, novels, RPGs, ect. back then.

I figure it's just a sign that the VFX is nowhere near finished for the season as a whole. Though, I do have to wonder why they would use a scene that's obviously not finished for a trailer.

Yeah, they've got 3 months, so hopefully they'll clean up some of the Data effects.

I watched the trailer again and I was wrong about Kung Fu guy. He's actually more like a Samurai guy with swords and everything. I hope to like him more when the series drops, but like I was saying yesterday, I hope they aren't just "cameos" while the characters we know other than Picard steal the limelight. Heck, with Seven, I wouldn't mind if she's only in the actual series for about 10 minutes or so.

As I pointed out earlier, there are novels were Kirk doesn't die. I prefer those to Generations.

Which novels are those? I know there's the William Shatner books were he comes back to live, but I don't know of any where he never dies.

I'm starting to get the same impression, right now the big question is how all of that is related.

I don't think that's going to be to much of a problem, there are 10 episodes in season 1, and other than Seven and Hugh, the returning characters are only going to be in one or two episodes.

That's some pretty good backstory. I hope it all comes together pretty well.

From what I've read, Raffi and Rios are partners in crime, so Picard goes to Raffi for help, and then she presumably pulls Rios into it all. She said their relationship is a bit like Han and Chewie. Elnor I believe is a Romulan refugee possibly working at the vineyard with Picard - he is said to be extremely loyal to Picard. Agnes Jurati is a positronic expert, so that's her angle - something to do with Data and all the androids we see in the trailer. I don't think I've seen anything about how Narek gets involved, but there's enough info out there to make a half-decent stab at piecing together the rest.

And his character is my main interest in this show.

Which novels are those? I know there's the William Shatner books were he comes back to live, but I don't know of any where he never dies.

I mean never dies on Veridian 3, not that he is immortal.
