As to Chelah Horsdal...she's been around Canadian sound-stages for decades, I see. All the way back to shows like Andromeda and Cold Squad. I take it she's going to be supporting cast, since her character is UFP president this season.

TBH, a season-long arc on “Kovich — what’s his deal?” would be way more interesting to me than another galactic threat that will be resolved neatly by the finale.

Is it too early to start complaining the Federation President being human, Cardassian and Bajoran is an Obnoxious Woke Agenda? Asking for a friend.

LOL! But seriously folks... given that we saw half-Cardassian, half-Bajorans in DS9 (and know that tends to happen in wars, especially those of occupation), I was quite pleased to see this character.

Berg and Harberts got cut because they were causing problems in the writers rooms, apparently making it a pretty toxic working environment with accusations of bullying and intimidation being directed at them.

As for the story of season 2, its clear that it was planned out differently but a number of things occurred to cause the change in the story arc. Firstly, if they had kept the stories already written by berg and harberts, they would have to pay them royalties or give them a credit. Secondly, it was decided Discovery would go to the future and a series about Pike and the Enterprise would take place 2250's - 60's.

Since all of this happened when the Season was already deep into production, they had to come up with a course correction fast.

Thank you! I didn't know any of that since I wasn't paying attention to behind-the-scenes at that point.

I'm curious how her relationship is with Burnham. The scene where she calls Burnham a potential wrecking ball could be mentorship and character growth for Burnham, or it could just be another obstacle in Burnham's way.
