New Voyages-"World Enough"

Just saw this episode, now NV previous episodes were great but this one kicked everything up about 100 notches, its was just perfect, some great acting, a great story and some smashing effects, and it looked very very professional indeed, i watched it with my jaw on the ground....

Its a long time since i sat wide eyed enjoying a episode of TOS i had not seen yet, and that just what World Enough did for me again...

One very happy TOS era fan. :)

I salute you guys at NV....Very well done.

Sonuva---

I figured you jerks were exaggerating about this episode. Now I've gone and watched it and it's got me crying. You big jerks.

GREAT episode!

Just saw it (Yep, I broke down and actually used a Bittorent client - something I swore I'd never do on my home PC).

Overall, an AMAZING job. As stated by many above; everyone seemed to kick the acting level up to a decent degree - and I also don't see the flak th person playinying Mr. Scott is getting. Yes, the acent is unfortunately not the best, but come on; he's is giving it his best effort, and did okay.

The actress playing Sulu's 'alternate' daughter was amazing; and the rest of the cast did well too (This was the first time the person playing Dr. McCoy didn't make me cringe - and I can live with the fact that he isn't even attempting any sort of 'Southern' accent.

Interesting too is the attempt to tie 'everything together more (using a frieghter model reminiscent of the Cargo haulers seen on the Enterprise series was an interesting touch. And while I again understand the reason you did it, to me the voice of the computer (played by Majel Roddenberry) WASN'T the 23rd century 1701 computer voice; it was the 24th century 1701-D computer voice; and actually, that was one of the more jarring things that stuck out to me while viewing the episode (yes, I guess I'm a major TOS geek).

And while it IS a TOS saple, it would be nice to see a battle where the 1701 doesn't destroy/heavily damage a ship with ONE phaser burst (sorry, didn't like that aspect of Star Trek in 1969; and still don't care for it today). ;)

But - bottom line, if this DIDN'T come off so well as being lime an actual (modern day produced) TOS episode, I wouldn't be quibbling like this.

Again, AMAZING job; and this time everything from acting to the script, to the music and effects really came together well.

I'm looking forward to Blood and Fire (although is it really neccessary to have the 'friend' of Ensign Kirk who says "I've never even met him..." to be so openly flaming? (Sorry, that's the way he came across in the small snippet of the 'Next Voyage' promo).

Congrats again on an excellent piece of work.

^^Actually Majel DID the computer voice for the original USS Enterprise in 1966 as well. It just sounded more...mechanical.

It looks like NV is taking incremental steps towards The Motion Picture. (Blood and Fire looks like it has a few of them.) The computer stopped sounding like 1966 SOMETIME. Guess it was this episode.

Thanks to about 10 of you, I finally have it downloaded and Quicktime player is going to deliver the goods. We're going to pipe it over to my HDtv with kids and popcorn (and tissues, apparently ;)) later this evening

Just saw the episode and I was blown away. The writing was top notch and Christina Moss stole the show--in a good way. I think the acting of the amateur cast continues to improve with every episode. Cawley and the others are slowly moving away from Cawley playing Shatner playing Kirk, etc. and are beginning the process of making those characters theirs--which is something they have to do. I think that what we need to remember is that they aren't professionals--they haven't had the years of experience that a professional develops--they're amateurs. But they are improving. They're getting more comfortable in front of the camera and they're gaining in confidence. I'm not concerned about the actor playing McCoy not trying to affect a Southern accent--to me, if you can't do the accent right, you're better off not even attempting to do it--few things in a performance is more jarring than a poorly done accent.

I also think that the presence of professional actors such as Walter Koenig and George Takei helps to elevate the performance of the amateur--I mean, who wouldn't want to put up as strong a performance as possible when sharing the screen with one of the original actors that in all probability you grew up idolizing? The continued involvement of professionals in NV can only make the series better.

I like the idea that NV is taking slow steps towards the TMP era--these characters shouldn't remain static, but rather have the opportunity to grow and evolve. The NV people need to be able to stretch themselves creatively.

Now, for the negatives: The streaming, as others have already stated, was an unmitigated disaster. Better to go back to having the files downloadable. Mr. Cawley needs to eliminate his few remaining Shatnerisms and he'll be well on his way towards making Kirk his; and the actor playing Scotty could well follow the example of the actor playing McCoy--don't worry about the accent for now--better to play the character without an accent until such time as you've picked up the necessary skill to portray the accent properly. Give me a good solid performance to the best of your abilities and I'll be a happy camper--I don't expect you guys to turn in professional level performances--yet. As long as you continue showing improvement and heart, I'll be in your corner.

Just watched it.

Apart from some very minor gripes (Cawley, while having improved his acting, seemed to scowl/scrunch his face up every time he needed to convey something other than a blank expression; also, the wild switching back-and-forth of the part in his hair became quite distracting), this is the best outing so far, simply fantastic!

Congratulations to the gang at NV!

I've been scouring the internet and keep finding different formats. The LARGE version as a bit torrent download seems to be the best one so far

Just saw it via a stable streaming feed.

Unbelievable. The writing is top notch, the acting was the best so far, and the story alone was incredibly moving. I'll even admit that I was actually getting choked up as the episode went on. The last time Trek did that for me was DS9's "The Visitor". This episode did what that ep did, and then some. You guys succeeded in breaking my heart by the episode's end.

I was blown away. This episode is the best by far, and makes me anticipate "Blood and Fire" even more so.

Excellent work! Keep the ball rolling, because we want more!

I'm in love, or at least some serious lust.

This is an absolutely beautiful episode of Star Trek. I am so happy and grateful to the folks at NV for their effort. I have been watching NV since they first came on the internet and, even though it hadn't quite hit the mark, I thought they had done a lot to create the look and feel of TOS. This episode proves their work has paid off! THIS IS STAR TREK!

George Takei was amazing in this episode, and truly showed his talent as a seasoned actor. The woman playing his daughter (I forget her name at the moment) was incredible. I know she's got a fine career ahead of her.

The story was SUPERB!!!!! I don't want to give anything away, but I was weeping four separate times at the end. I love the character of Sulu, and the writers treated him with great dignity very much like Vonda McIntyre does in her Trek novels from the early to mid 80s. Thank you! And they created an alternate timeline without using the damned reset button to get themsleves out of it!!!! Yes!!

Everyone was so afraid when ENT left the airwaves after 18+ years of Paramount produced Star Trek. I was not. I remember the 70's and the 10 years that Star Trek lived through the creativity of its fans in written fiction. I see it happening all over again, but instead using the incredible technologies we have today to actually create quality Trek episodes like this one.

Keep up the great work, NV. You have certainly raised the bar for everyone to meet. And because you've done that, EVERYONE wins!

Wow, I just saw it, and I gotta say it's perfect. It even wipes away the stain of their first two episodes :).

Phenominal production, fantastic performances, wonderful effects, and a particularly delightful performance by the young lady playing Elanna.

Any way I can actually DL this and save it to disk? My wife refuses to sit in front of a computer screen for an hour, and I want to share it with her.

You can download the torrent here and a BitTorrent client to get the video file via that torrent here. I didn't want to watch it on a computer either so I burned the large .mp4 file to DVD and it definitely made it more enjoyable to watch it on my TV.

The Blood and Fire preview shows improvement in the hair department. Maybe Cawley found the ultimate solution: shave his head and alternate between an Elvis-hair wig and a Shatner Turbo 2000 as called for.

New Voyages-"World Enough" is More Than Enough....

Ok finally dl it and I must say, that was a knock your socks off effort. That is the best Trek I've seen in years...

Keep up the good work.
