Man, Ralph, thanks for posting the stuff you have on youtube. Wish I could be there seeing the stuff you see and talking to these people. Atleast I can get a taste of it from your videos........
it should be noted that im not really a big fan of recasts (infact I hate recasts) that is really like I started with "Of Gods and Men" which features a fair amount of TV series actors, but fails to deliver plot wise. I would say that the use of Captain Harriman seemed odd he was not that bigger part of Star Trek, and I certainly dont ever recall thinking, I wonder what he would be like in a alt timeline, which is kinda similar to the Mirror verse.
I guess it can be best summed up as, if you can get actors from the TV series in your FanFilm, have them play their characters, Walter Koenig is not playing Chekov for most of the OGaM.

Re: Captain Harriman, It was orginally planned to be Sulu, Chekov and Uhura but George was unavailable for the shoot and Alan Ruck was available so Harriman was brought back. And so re-writes had to be done, so if it feels out place with him that is why. There was also to be some other extra stuff planned with guest actors that never made it to the final product.

What's some of that extra stuff?
As we put finishing touches on the special effects for "Blood and Fire, Part 2," we're still looking good for a release sometime around Labor Day--about a month away. A lot of our team will be busy at Dragon*Con that Labor Day weekend, so we probably won't release it the very same time most of us are out of town unable to deal with technical issues if they crop up. But it'll probably be released shortly after that.
Also, a pretty-well completed version of "The Child" will be shown at Dragon*Con even though we shot "Enemy: Starfleet" before "The Child." Jit's just one of those odd things that "The Child" is nearing the finish line sooner than "Enemy: Starfleet" is. But like I think I've mentioned, we'd probably hold off releasing our follow-up episode to "Blood and Fire, Part 2" for a couple of months to allow the smoke to clear a bit. So that lag time might be enough time to get "Enemy: Starfleet" finished which would permit us to release the episodes in their actual production order.
And there is, of course, great overlap between our Phase II team and our Buck Rogers Begins team, and we are all hard at work getting ready to start shooting our first Buck Rogers segments in a month or so. Buck is shaping up to be a fun production.
Thanks for the nice comments about our productions. The nice comments are pretty much why we do the episodes. It's not like we can make a dime off the Paramount/CBS property that we have no rights to whatsoever, so its the nice comments and pats on the back (and things like Hugo Award nominations and our ever-increasing viewership numbers) that keep us going when our team starts running out of steam a bit.
I don't want to. I'd rather download it and watch in high quality
