New Underworld trailer

What? No thread on the new "Underworld" movie trailer yet? Let's get the ball rolling!

(I'd post a link, but I don't know how. It's all over the internet, though.)

Thanks for posting the link.

Obviously, I'm not at liberty to discuss the plot of the new movie, but I'm curious to hear what people think of the trailer.

Ooh, I definitely don't want spoilers (even if you could), but going off the trailer, we'll certainly be seeing it.

Sonja doesn't quite fit in with the mental image I had of her (I've no idea why, but I've always kind of pictured Sophia Myles in the role, even though she portrayed someone else in the first flick. It's just me).

Other than that, I can't wait:)

Yeah, it's a shame Sophia Myles wasn't in any of the sequels. In my heart, I like to think that Erica is still around out there . . . .

It hasn't aired in the UK yet, about three years ago it was the start of November before the Evolution trailer started. So I'd give it a week or two before we get it.

Just watched the trailer, and it looks AWESOME!! Good to see old faves like Viktor, Lucian and Raze back. And though she look nothing like the Sonya we glimpsed in the first movie, Rhona Mitra looks like she'll be pretty good. Can't wait!! :D

The original Tomb Raider Rhona Mitra was pretty good in that Doomsday movie, this looks like it could be fun. Not crazy about the generic "Rise of the Lycans" subtitle but that doesn't ultimately matter really.

That looks fantastic. I thought Underworld: Evolution was kind of disappointing, so hopefully this gets the series back on track. A heavy focus on Lucian and Viktor certainly doesn't hurt.

Hmm...if they make another one after ROTL, you guys think they'll take it back to the present with a sequel to Evolution? Who the heck is left out there that could threaten Selene and Michael? Maybe there will be some hints in ROTL...

^As far as future "Underworld" movies go, Amelia is still a big, empty question mark. And I too would like to think that Erika is still out there. Considering the high body count this franchise has racked up, she's the only major character still alive other than Selene & Michael (and I still think you could retcon things so that Raze is still alive). Somehow, I imagine Erika setting herself up as the matriarch of her own coven, filling the power vacuum left by the deaths of Amelia, Viktor, & Markus.

Maybe they could go the prequel-prequel route and go back to the very VERY beginning and show us some of that backstory of the Corvinus family that we only heard about in "Underworld: Evolution."

Still, the fact that you have inside info at all, I'm assuming this means that you've been hired for the latest novelization? If so, congrats.

The reason why no thread was forthcoming prior to this was because I've been busy with work and haven't had a lot of time to go BBSing. And sometimes I feel like I am half the buzz of this film on this board. Other than "Star Trek XI," it's my most anticipated film of 2009.

So let me get this straight, you don't know how to post a link (in the body of the post), but you do know how to post one in your sig?

Simple Answer: Same fucking way!!!

Complex Answer:
1) Copy URL from address bar.
2) Paste into post.
3) Surround with tags.

Thanks for the tip. What can I say? Setting up my sig was fairly user-friendly; I just typed it into the appropriate box. No cutting or pasting or tags involved. But transfering the URL from another site was just too daunting.

Yes, I'm that rarity: the computer-phobic Trek author. (My website was actually set up by a friendly romance writer. How ironic is that?)

Back to UNDERWORLD: one of the neater things about writing the new book was getting a chance to talk with Kevin Grievoux who plays Raze. He gave me lots of good insights into his character.

^ Awesome! I've got all 3 of your previous Underworld novels, so this one will most definitely be joining them!

In Rise of the Lycans, presumably we'll be seeing Sonja's death scene, so it will be interesting to see how it compares visually to how it was depicted in the first movie.

This series is so good, I suddenly have an urge to watch the first two movies again! :D

It will also be interesting seeing how much of "Rise of the Lycans" fits in with "Blood Enemy" and how much of it completely changes it.

Heck, I'm impressed that you were able to gain such insights from Kevin Grievoux. If I met him, I'd probably just spend the entire time marvelling, "Wow. You're voice is so cool!" without actually hearing a word he said. ;)

Didn't Grevioux co-write the first Underworld? I'm sure he had a lot of interesting ideas about the world beyond his character, too.
