new trailer for Moon out

That's a really convincing mis en scene (I think that's the teminology I'm looking for) for the moon. Looks excellent.
Mise-en-scene can often mean the placement of everything on the stage/before the camera. It's not always used that way, though. Are you talking about the set design of the lunar landscape?

I've seen speculation on line that he's a clone and just doesn't know it...

Looks interesting. I'm in. I'll probably have to drive to Atlanta to see it though. They don't show anything around here that's not for the teenage or redneck masses.

Now, are they going to be showing star trek near you?:vulcan:

There's no telling. I'd better make sure there's not a Will Ferrell or Larry the Cable Guy movie taking up 6 screens.

It looks interesting on the surface, but then I keep thinking, "not another psychological, space horror movie."

So, they retrieved Hal, just to put him on the moon and let him terrorize a few more people?

Stupid move.

Looks interesting though.

Looks good, I'll defo go see it whenever it comes out (any word on a UK release date?)

It does look a bit like Sunshine-on-the-Moon though. But hey I like that film :D

Trailer for the new SciFi Indy film MOON

One definitely gets SOLARIS vibes from this, but it looks really interesting (and you gotta love Sam Rockwell).

Apparently the film was written for him specifically.

(I recommend watching it in HD if your bandwidth can deal).

The effects were done on a shoestring budget using good old fashioned model work.

And yes, the Computer is voiced by Kevin Spacey.

I saw it with the sound off, but dang... that does look good. I'm interested.

Also, the special effects looked beautiful and completely convincing to me.

Re: Trailer for the new SciFi Indy film MOON

Looks really interesting. Can't wait to see it (looks like it might not get a wide release until well into the summer).

Just from the trailer I'd guess

the mining company is using clones to do the work. Give them a three year life span and drop them on a bunch of different moon bases to complete their "contract". They can even keep reusing the same old videos and communiques.

Re: Trailer for the new SciFi Indy film MOON

Wow, looks really cool. Just the other day I was just expressing my frustrating at the lack of isolated space movies like Solaris and Outland, and this seems to fit the bill perfectly.

Btw. did any of you guys see this article? It seems like the "Moon" director is a huge "Blade Runner" fan. And in his next film, he wants to recapture the kind of feel that made that film unique.

An interesting quote from Jones: "So that's what I'm doing, a big-city mystery story that takes place in a future Berlin."

Sounds sweet!

One nitpick, why would a company send up one person for a three year trip. It seems to me it would be better to have company and help pass the time if there is at least two people at a time.

What makes you think he's *actually* there for three years? I think the *twist* looks pretty obvious from the trailer.

Moon is having its west coast premier as part of the San Francisco International Film Festival on Sunday, May 3, at 8 p.m. at the Castro Theater if anyone in the area wants to see it ASAP.

Details here.
