NEW Stargate SG-1 Movie planned for 2010

Well they ususally follow through with these things. SG-1 was a very, very popular series and I am sure we will be seeing more of them for years to come.

The 3rd movie was verbally announced not long after the 2nd DVD title with hints for a 2010 release date. However more likely is filming in 2010 but I won't be surprised if the movie does not come out till 2011, The SG-A movie should come first since it has a finished script.

I also feel that SG-1 won't carry over much longer in DVD form because apart from Lucian Alliance a less than compelling enemy which needs no conclusion theres not much room for plot. I would like to see the 3rd so called O Neill based film and then for SG-A to get at least 3 of there own. After that I would be happy to see maybe a join venture so in the end were left with a Trilogy of DVD movies for each show and then a bigger join ventured one as a farewell to the two shows.

I would assume by then SGU would have finished its run or be close too assuming its a 4/5 year run. The the entire franchise can have a rest.

IMDB means nothing, but I assume it will eventually happen. I also expect a third SG-1 film, centered on Jack, will be the swan song for that pillar of the franchise, at least in standalone form.

I think the 2 movies to date were ok. Not horribly bad, but not outstanding either. I would like to see a Jack centric movie, but only if it has the wit and acting that RDA delivered in seasons 1-5. For me the last few seasons he was in SG1, and for his brief cameos I felt like his heart was not really into the character anymore.

Story wise I do think they have done all than can with SG1. While I love the characters, not sure I want to see more of them.

I just hope they make RDA hit the gym. When I saw him in Continuum, which was filmed not that much after his appearance in season ten, he looked so different. It is one thing to see someone get gradually bigger, but it was so jarring.

I thought the one guest shot where the old Jack was able to shine was The Return, Part II. He was smart, physical, and only cracked jokes when sense allowed it.

Lately he's been fat and reduced to being a bland authority figure. Before that, he barely had any screentime in The Return, Part I. The same goes for his two small appearances in season nine, which were little more than cameos. In 200, he was (deliberately) a self-parody. In The Real World he wasn't even the real Jack! I suppose he was okay in The Shroud, but he wasn't much of a man of action in that one that he had been in the show's distant past.

I would expect the Stargate Atlantis movie sooner rather than later. After all, MGM is paying for the studio space where the standing stets are still standing ready to be used. Eventually it has got to be cheaper to film the movie and dismantle the sets. Unless somebody decides that it's just a better move to dismantle the sets.

MGM has had financial woes for many years. In fact, I don't think they have had any decent hits since the early 1980s. You never see MGM listed in the top 100 of all time.

His appearance adds an unintentional layer of humour to his line near the beginning of Continuum. "One more bad guy to kill and then there's cake!"

Of course, with a gut like mine, I'm the last one who should be calling anyone fat.

Being a general in the SG universe makes one plump...

Richard Dean Anderson has worked in the business for a long time, he deserves some time off. If being off means porking out a bit, the so be it. Maybe they are trying to General Hammond-size him?

Yay for Stargate fans. 10 seasons and they still get what are essentially are TV movies given a DVD release first.

In which reality is this global recession happening again? Not the one Canadians live in, that's for sure.

The longer the SG1 and SGA movies go without being produced, the less interest I think there will be in them. If you are off the radar too long, you become irrelevant.

Am not sure Babylon 5 Lost Tales exceeded predicted sales from WB and there was a decent size gap in that to the last DVD movie. Stargate is on the air with Universe it will still get attention for SG-1, Atlantis will be the problem for attention if it waits too long. I think Atlantis will probably be filmed and released before the end of 2010...SG-1 probably 2011.
