Runs a casino? That doesn't sound like it's making the best use of his extraordinary abilities. Why would he do such a thing?

Fund his exploits. Now he's out of starfleet if he wants to galavant across the galaxy he needs an income. And he needs to keep himself and Lal protected of course.

Naah, but death is only a temporary state. At least for Bones, Spock (multiple times), Kirk, Scotty, Neelix, Data, Wesley, Worf, Troi, OBrien, Harry Kim (twice), Tom Paris, etc.

There's a whole future of trek out there in the novelverse, and they all hang together in one continuity. It's the only way you'll see the future in a licensed form - Prime trek won't return to TV or film again I'm afraid.

As others have said, Worf is awesome but he's been played out. I'd be interested in focusing on other interesting races, such an Andoreans, or another mixed crew with different characters. IMO, any show that isn't primarily about space exploration isn't Star Trek. It's a Soap Opera.
