New ST:TMP Trailer?

I've seen a lot of trailers for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, but I've never seen this one before.

Stuff to look out for.
- New Klingon Footage!
- Raw on-set audio
- Wormhole Sequence without the distorted voice (though the slow motion still sounds choppy)

Mhmm. Way cool.

"This is the new voyage... of the Enterprise." Goosebumps.

I love that bit: "This is the return of Captain Kirk, Doctor McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Uhura, Chekov, and Mr. Spock." Together with the music, excellent.

They should have done a trailer like this (I mean the presentation of the ship and cast part) for the new movie.

Not so new. This was the commercially-available Super 8 "long trailer", sold for screening via home movie projectors. I've owned a copy since the early 80s.

Didn't really mean new as is newly produced, just newly uncovered. I've actually tried searching for a lot of alternate trailers to Star Trek that aren't featured on the DVDs/BluRays, and this one just krept up on me today.

Do you still have the Super 8 and have you tried to upload it?

Interesting to see a NATO promo like that. Most of this stuff is the same footage seen in the film and a few shots that exist in other trailers, but with two some interesting bits:

--The un-processed footage of the Klingon Captain, some of which we see on the Epsilon 9 viewers.
--The Captain's Log with a different time from launch (2.7 instead of 1.8 hours)

Okay, though I was sure I'd seen it on Youtube before. The same footage is also included on an unlicensed commercial video (VHS), a rather shoddily-produced "Golden Editions Video" documentary called "The Story of *** Trek" (with three stars drawn into the title), distributed Down Under (and NZ) in 1992 by Hughes Leisure Group.

Yes, I still have it, but no working projector any more. I also have a reel of Super 8 science fiction movie trailers. The ST III one is the teaser trailer not featured on the commercial DVD sets. Spock's translucent face is superimposed over a starfield at the end, rather like the effect on the soundtrack album cover.

I also had an expensive, though brief, flirtation with Super 8 back in the early '80's. It lasted until I picked up my first VHS player in 1983.

I had the edited, three-reel version of ST-TMP that ran about 50 minutes total. It was great! At that length, it had all of the good parts and played like a fast-paced (!), high-budget episode. I wish I still had it so I could transfer it to DVD (even though it was pan-and-scanned).

In the late 80s, I bought what I assumed was the whole (edited) story in one Super 8 reel at a charity auction, only to realise later it was from the set-of-three. I've never actually played that reel in a projector and can't even recall which part it is.

However, the long presentation reel, mentioned earlier, was played at numerous club meetings and always went down well.

IT gives too much away of the story and is a spoiler. Too much spoil and not enough tease. Like you said Maurice..less is more....

What's strange about this reel is that all of the music is tracked from other Paramount films (okay, maybe it's not that strange) but the end uses Goldsmith's main title, which was written late in the process, possibly late summer/early fall 1979.

Most of the music in this is from Black Sunday and Marathon Man and I think some of the "love theme" music is Goldsmith's Islands in the Stream.

I haven't seen this trailer since the pre-cable days of Starcase!! I still have the antenna on my roof.
