There were a total of four municipalities vying for the job of "Scotty's hometown", as I recall, [Edit: I guess they did finally "settle" on Linlithgow, but there's still nothing to preclude Scotty being "an old Aberdeen pub-crawler" -- that city's probably still a place where jobs for engineers are to be found.] The accent Pegg used is supposed to be from near Glasgow, though.
