New Frontier: Treason

Soleta only left Starfleet because they were going to stick her in a shitty job because she didn't tell them she was half-Romulan. Even though she'd proved loyal and served well, they decided when they found out that her loyalty was suspect. which is rediculous. it's what you do that defines you, not your DNA.

this, a turncoat, is a completely different plate of gumbo.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they are exactly the same situation, just that I thought they were similar, and I would rather not see something like this so soon after Soleta.

So I wonder if the traitor will end up being a new character or someone new introduced in this book? If it's somebody we know I just hope PAD doesn't kill them off. we just lost Sci-Cwan, and McHenry left just a few books back, so I'd hate to see another original character go too.

Has anyone heard if whether PAD will eventually have New Frontier meet up with the post-Nemesis TNG/VOY/Titan books. IIRC, the last book ended before the events of Nemesis, and this one happens right after the last...

well there's been a couple of cameo appearances by the NF crowd in Before Dishonor and Destiny and Shelby was in Q&A

That's true. I guess NF has always done its own thing. At some point I guess we'll see a post-Destiny NF tale, but they'll probably continue along their own way in sector 221-G...

which i personally think is better, i can find them believable when they're out in 221-G on their own, or in a limited way in the "mainstream" trek. But if they spent too much time alongside Picard/Sisko/Janeway then it becomes difficult to believe they're part of the same fleet!

I don't know much about hardcovers, but I think they actually tend to show up sooner than the paberbacks.

It's going to be a trade paperback. A few years ago, there was a fairly reliable pattern. Pocket MMPBs would appear in the month before the date printed inside, hardcovers at the beginning of the month, and trade paperbacks towards the end. It's been a little more random recently.

Ah, I didn't realize it wasn't coming out like that anymore. I've been getting my books from Borders, and it takes them foreeeverr (that was emphasis, not an accident) to get Trek books.

Alot of places are getting like that. I've taken to getting them from Amazon, but i'm not convinced that's the quickest way of doing it.

I've taken to preordering at Barnes and Noble, which has worked pretty well for me... Got Mere Anarchy a few days ago and just started it. And Deluge by Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Anne Scarborough just arrived today, on schedule.

it looks ok, they have changed the font of the title, gone is the Ambassador class star ship in the middle :(.

Given the fact that Amazon usually isn't the best source for new cover images (didn't they displayed an early placeholder cover for Unity months after it's release?), who knows which of the covers is the final one? FWIW obviously S&S has taken the cover I posted above from their website, where I got it.

How big is this book? The online description says 350+ pages but the measurments and price are that of the anthology books like No Limits and Shattered Mirror; not the regular paperback size and price like the Destiny books or the rest of the New Frontier books :wtf:

they also replaced the movie-era pin with a post GEN era combadge.

Paris: it's a trade paperback, that means the same size as one of the anthologies or the recent MU and MyrU books.

Has there been any word on if the will eventually release a smaller version to line up with all the previous releases of the series:(? The hardbacks always got re-released as smaller MMPB's...

MMPBs are usually $8 now, and amazon has Treason discounted to $10.88 (at least in the US). I suppose I can understand wanting it to look pretty on the shelf, or if you prefer the smaller size for convenience, but the cost issue seems pretty minor.
