New Companion Rumour

If she's from the 80s and is traveling to 2017, that means she's time-traveling into what could be her immediate future.

I'm starting the rumor she's Martha's mom >_>

"Bill" is a nickname

Look, another young, witty female from comtemporary earth. I'm already bored.
It doesn't help that the scene was awful, they are hunted by Daleks, the Doctor tells her to be quiet and she just can't shut up. If you want her to be funny don't put them into a life threatening situation.

With her time period, that of the 6th and 7th Doctors, I wonder if we might cross paths with them or their companions.

Like say "Ace".

What "life threatening situation"? The one where several of the supposedly "deadliest species in the universe" are firing their lasers and not even getting close to hitting them? Fuck, Stormtroopers look like expert shots compared to the fucking Daleks.

Apparently Who never got the memo that ultimate bad guys who show up every season and get their asses beat aren't ultimate bad guys. There's absolutely no reason for a viewer to even think "Oh shit!" when they show up. They need a serious updating to wipe the stench of utter lameness from them.

Probably because the "ultimate bad guy" is the guy who travels around Time and Space in the blue box. At least as far as several species, including the Daleks, see it.

And they stuck him in the Pandorica for that.

Moving along.

I hope she is from the 80s, at least that would be vaguely different from a fully contemporary companion.

I however do share people's opinions that she seems somewhat annoying, but as others have said it may just be because it's a random scene, plus she's only just started so they probably haven't got a right feeling for the character yet.

Clara was annoying because she was the most beautiful and most clever, as well as magic.

A dummy asking obvious questions sounds refreshing.

Felt like they were going for a "Borg, sounds Swedish" vibe, but it wound up too goofy for that. The brief trailer/scene left me decidedly unenthused, but I'm willing to be proved wrong.

I really wish they had gone with a South Asian companion, but that's a minor point. Overall, eh, I'm sure she'll be fine.

That is an interesting question about casting.

I wonder if they specified ethnicity when they issued their cattle call?

Purple Rain shirt, huh?

Wow.

That's just awful.

The Doctor in 1980-something, walking about, see's Bill's shirt "Hey! Excuse me, hello, I am the Doctor, I'm very glad to meet you, I love your T-Shirt, do you want to go to Prince's funeral with me in my time machine?"

Well... it was a longer reveal than I expected. Like a proper scene. And... um... you know, it was very Moffat-y. Take that as you will.

Moffat is still in charge until next year. The fact that there are no planned episodes this year, except, perhaps, a christmas episode, does not negate the fact that Moffat is still the bloke in charge

I happen to love the idea of a non-white companion... Something sorely needed since Martha, i feel

And this has what to do with anything? The Daleks are not real, they are villains on a t.v. show. Villains we're supposed to think are super bad asses with hyper advanced alien tech. And yet they can't even hit an old man and his regular joe companion who are running (not particularly fast) in a straight line down a straight hall. In case you're not aware, the easiest target to hit is one moving in a straight line. In fact both of them should be riddled with holes, that's how easy it is to hit a target moving in a straight line. It's why in aerial combat you don't keep flying in the same direction when someone gets on your tail. You move out of the line of fire.
