New Cast Photos

However, I think Pegg was always a special case casting-wise. I think he was picked more for his rising popularity—especially overseas—and the demographic that comes attached to him than for any particular suitability to the role of Scotty other than ethnic proximity, which is not to say that he wasn't a good choice. I know half a dozen people who are planning to see this movie only because Pegg is in it, and I think he’s a good enough actor to do justice to the role, hairstyle notwithstanding.

It's being said that Scotty has some humorous scenes in the movie (the phrase "comic relief" has even been used). So casting Pegg makes sense that way, too.

As far as his hair goes, it just continues the tradition of Mr. Scott and his ever-changing hair style.

Are they going to cut off or digitally alter Simon Pegg's finger so that he *completely* looks like Scotty? We can't have a Scotty with 10 fingers now, can we?

I wish they had given Pegg a more original Scotty haircut, I know it doesn't have to be that way and no I haven't seen the movie to say it isn't at some point but I did a photoshop test here...

Now THAT definitely looks like a young Sam Neill to me!!

I demand a re-shoot!

Anton Yelchin or Dr Bashir??

My version! :techman:

The posters are great. They are doing what they were intended; creating BUZZ for the new movie.
The conversations here are proof of this.
I have chosen the side of those who say, "Choosing the actors for ACTING ability is more important than casting look-a-likes." If they are good at their jobs, they will make us believe they are Scotty, McCoy, Uhura, etc.

WOW.

Im loving the new design in the uniforms, not as different as i first feared.

J J is doing us proud. well, until the movie is released that is.

Am I the only one who does NOT see Yelchin's resemblance to Bashir at all? Maybe someone can post a side-by-side comparison to convince me, but I'm not seeing the resemblance.

It's a stretch. Yelchin doesn't look that much like Siddig. He's a lot more gaunt in the face for one.

Part of it is the fact that he has one of the Bashir "expressions" as it were. He certainly gives off a Bashir vibe.
