New 2017 titles and blurbs - DTI, McCormack DS9, and more!

Yeah it was posted two weeks ago by startrek.com and linked to here in a dedicated thread:

Check it out, over at the official Star Trek site:

Seems odd, this won't be out until March and it's the first 2017 book to have its cover revealed.

I just re-read Gulliver's Fugitives. I'd completely forgotten almost everything about it, beyond that it was about a planet where imagination is suppressed. Turned out to be better than I remember it, and while the allegorical satire of fundamentalism and reactionary politics is a bit heavy-handed, it's also more relevant now than it was when it was released.

And I'd completely forgotten the FF connection. Having read it, and Mr. Bennett's comment that
And, yes, The Face of the Unknown is consistent with it.
has definitely got me interested in finding out how.

I read Gulliver's fugitives again a few months ago. I look forward to to seeing the story connections to this novel and Face of the unknown.

And they keep coming!

Rise of the Federation: Patterns of Interference, by Christopher. Out August 29, 2017:

The saga of the Star Trek: Enterprise TV series continues with this thrilling original novel!

The time has come to act. Following the destructive consequences of the Ware crisis, Admiral Jonathan Archer and Section 31 agent Trip Tucker both attempt to change their institutions to prevent further such tragedies. Archer pushes for a Starfleet directive of non-interference, but he faces opposition from allies within the fleet and unwelcome support from adversaries who wish to drive the Federation into complete isolationism. Meanwhile, Tucker plays a dangerous game against the corrupt leaders of Section 31, hoping to bring down their conspiracy once and for all. But is he willing to jeopardize Archer’s efforts—and perhaps the fate of an entire world—in order to win?

And there's another gap, currently no novel announced for the end of July. That aside, the only empty slots in the schedule now are novels for the ends of October, November and December. A TNG 30th anniversary trilogy, perhaps?

This the book news I've been waiting for. This synopsis is certainly the story I've been wanting to see in the Enterprise books! Especially Section 31 and the Mention of Trip's storyline sounds intriguing.

June 19 sees the release of another DTI eBook from CLB, Shield of the Gods, featuring the Aegis:

Interesting cover choice for that one on Amazon.

Dayton said the following on Twitter when I posted the link:
I'm almost certain that's a placeholder. Still looks kinda snazzy, tho, right?
Likewise the interior illustrations. Like the Vulcan book, there will be all-new artwork, not just pic or screencaps .

As with the Vulcan guide, it's not meant to be a distillation of canon and/or other tie-in material. I draw on several sources, along with just making up a lot of stuff to fill out the "travel guide" aspect of the book. Included among those references are a few from works penned by KRAD. :)

Nope, nothing announced at the moment beyond what was mentioned in this thread.

Current list of upcoming novels/novellas: http://defcons-treklit.blogspot.de/p/upcoming-star-trek-novels.html

I'm actually torn if I should include the Travel Guide in that list. It's not a novel/novella, but it's not non-fiction.

For what it's worth, it looks like Trek Collective lists stuff like the Travel Guides, Klingon Art of War, or the Kirk "Autobiography" under nonfiction? So there'd be precedent for you doing the same on your site.

Though you likely already know that I imagine. :p
