Hmm. Headlong Flight. A planet randomly jumping from dimension to dimension. Does it find its way into the Abramsverse at some point?
That is too bad that Pulaski is in it, I don't like her very much either
I liked Pulaski. Not that I had any objection to Crusher's return; I just don't see why there's so much hostility to her.
I wasn't a huge Pulaski fan either, but I thought she came across very well in The Missing. Una McCormack did a wonderful job (imho) with her. Using Beverly Crusher as an audience surrogate - showing that initial distrust, then getting to know her, and to respect and even a find a friendship of sorts - worked for me. I'm really looking forward to Enigma Tales!
On a different note: Christopher L. Bennett's January 2017 novel The Face of the Unknown has a cover! I'm looking forward to this one too, despite it appearing to be a 5YM story.

I'm excited too; I'm amazed that it's taken nearly 50 years to get a First Federation story, and I can't wait to see what Christopher's done with them.
Well, we got a glimpse of them in TNG: Gulliver's Fugitives by Keith Sharee, with a couple of FF ambassadors aboard the Enterprise. That's the only previous tale, as far as I know, that has ever portrayed any FF members beyond Balok. And, yes, The Face of the Unknown is consistent with it.
Oh wow there's a book I haven't thought of in ages. I don't think I'd seen "Corbomite Maneuver" when I read it, so that they were characters from something else probably washed over me.
That is a great cover. I was not expecting to see the E-D and a 23 Century Romulan Warbird on it, I'm very curious what the significance of those ships is. I think that blurb was released a while back, I'm pretty sure I've already read it at least once before.
Wow, that is a gorgeous cover. I was really shocked when I found out there had not been any novels focused on the First Federation before, or even just with a significant role for them. I would have thought with The Corbomite Maneuver being so early and popular there would have been a whole bunch of books with them by now.
I thought william shatner and the Stevens used the first federation somewhat in the mirror universe trilogy they wrote. Books spectre, dark victory and presever
And I did not acknowledge that version in any way in TFotU.

i had a feeling you wouldnt, Christopher. My understanding was that the Shatnerverse was always its own separate thing apart from the rest of trek lit anyways.
And I barely remember those books anyway...
I think a couple fairly subtle references have made their way into recent books, but they still aren't allowed to use stuff introduced in the movies.
