Posted by Warped9:I'm working on some new stuff, but it's hard to get motivated during this (Canadian) Thanksgiving long weekend being spent on my own.
C'mon, Warped9, I'll be motivated to view your stuff during our (U.S.) Thanksgiving Holiday! In fact, I'm at work today and viewing your stuff. It's Columbus Day here below the longest undefended border in the world. :D

Anywho...I'm waiting expectingly on your new pics. :D

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

I don't usually visit this forum, but I followed a link over from the TOS forum, and I just have to say... wow. :) Good stuff! (Warped9, I didn't realize you were so talented artistically... want to do a panel next year at TT? ;) )

Actually, there was a graphic they made for Ilia's "intrusion" in TMP that would've worked perfectly for that scene too.

Oddly enough it showed up in TWOK.

I haven't watched TMP or TWOK in a while, but that graphic looks like the one that was used in TMP, when the Ilia probe is returned by V'ger and the intruder alert goes off... which is what it was intended for. *scratches head* No?

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

Actually if I recall a year or so ago I did do a panel that discussed how Star Trek could be enhanced without violating its original aesthetic and artistic integrity. Many of my images in this thread are examples of that approach in practice.

I'm on somewhat of a hiatus as far as new images are concerned. Within the next few weeks I hope to have myself set up to do my own DVD screencaps and then I'll be getting back into the swing of creating and posting more images. I'm hoping folks can patiently bear with me until then.

My take on "The Cage" and the WNMHGB uniforms. Essentially green gold for Command, familiar ble for Scieces and dark gold sand for Support. If I had my druthers I'd like to have seen Medical with a lighter shade of blue perhaps. I'm still working on the female variants.

Did you ever get to the female variants, or did I miss them somewhere? Also, have you considered adding more olive to the command color and more brown to the support? On the 2-ep DVDs when Pike has on his landing party jacket, his collar seems more green than gold...probably the lighting. As for the medical/science, the color is almost what I call "sunset blue", but that doesn't mean a hole lot. ;)

The last time I watched WNMHGB, the support tunics seemed almost light brown in shadows while the command tunics held their color in the same lighting.

Re: TMp Uniform alternative...

Actually I thought I had done female variants--I'll have to check. Also The command shirts in "The Cage" actually were originally green, but a wierd colour freakout in processing made them look more golden.

Re: TMp Uniform alternative...

eek! This thread is slipping behind! Any plans for more photoshoped images, Warped9? (or anyone else?)

Re: TMp Uniform alternative...

This was already posted in another thread that has since died. BUt here is a TOS scene that we must all hope is never seen: if Berman and TPTB decided to reboot TOS directly...

Barf bags are available at the door.

For a long time I've lurked on this list, enjoying the pictures; now it is time to contribute.

I've always been bugged by the camera shot of the launch of the shuttlecraft from the Hanger Deck. If you look at it, it is two separate shots. The first one is of the shuttlecraft rotating. The second is of the launch itself. It was never a continuous camera shot. There was always a cutaway in the middle of the sequence to something like Spock looking pensive to allow for the camera change. Making matters worse, two different lenses were used. The lens for the second half was a wider angle zoom lens. That changed the perspective between the two shots. Also affected were the size of the components of the Hanger Deck. Finally, the lighting was different between the two scenes, giving us completely different colors and brightness.

I have done my best to correct for these differences in a sequence of screen caps I have created called Hanger Deck launch. About the only thing I couldn't correct for was the fact the camera was physically lower in the second half. That difference is minor but remains. I think my new sequence of screen caps presents the launch of the shuttlecraft as originally envisioned, not as shot. Certainly this is how I saw it in my mind's eye when I first watched Star Trek.

A 1024 x 768 version of Hanger Deck launch is available here. You'll have to click a couple of times on the picture to take it up to full size. If you want a 1280 x 960 version of Hanger Deck launch , it is here. Again, a couple of clicks are necessary to resize the picture. If you want to see the nuts and bolts of my creation, go here. You'll find both the original and modified screen caps at this site. Finally, you might enjoy my whole Star Trek sequences site. I have created over twenty sequences covering most of the Star Trek series. They can all be found here.

In case the hypertext above doesn't work for you, just go here and surf:

http://startreksequences.fotopic.net/

There you'll find all of the stuff mentioned above.

If you right click to upload to a disc, will all the images upload as well just as they appear here?

Um... could you rephrase that? What is it you want to do? Get all the pics off this topic?

Exactly!

I want to store them to disk and print them off at a later date on a very high quality printer.

Re: TMp Uniform alternative...

All I can say is: WOW !!!
One of the advantages of going away from the BBS for a while is that, when I come back, I get to scroll thru all these wonderfull images- And I don't have to wait for an overworked Warped9 to upload the latest!!!
I've litterally spent hrs reviewing your work, W9, and, like I said....Wow...
I can't wait to look at all the other ToS oriented threads here... :)
One thing though... some of the posts have images with broken links. And many have "WOW's as responses. is there some web site I can go to to see these?

Re: Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice.

Well, what I would do is click 'Show All' on the page selector thing (to show the entire thread on one page), and wait for the entire page to load (have a coffee, take a nap )

Then save the page to your hard drive (in Internet Explorer, go to File, Save Page As..) and stick it in it's own folder.

If your using XP (or an OS with Thumbnail icons) your in luck! Just browse into all the folders in the one you just made and delete the files, folders and pictures which aren't the ones you want (things like html files, scripts, pictures of advertisments and the TrekBBS title bar, stuff that isn't the cool TOS scenes.)

Once you've gotten rid of all the crap, you should be left with a load of cool pics for your enjoyment! (I should add that you should ask permission to use them for anything other then sticking on your wall, all that legal mumbo-jumbo ;))

Any problems, feel free to ask!

Re: TMp Uniform alternative...

Thanks for the information.

One online image I've been looking for was a couple someone did showing the original Enterprise and the Constellation battling the Planet Killer (The Doomsday Machine).

One image showed the killer firing its antiproton weapon and it just nicking the Enterprise.

I wish I had uploaded that one.
