Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice...

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

^^ WOW! I *really* want this to be a real episode. If I wish hard enough, will it happen?

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

I was of two minds on this. At first I thought of suggesting something being glimpsed going off in the distance within Balok's ship. But then I recalled that Balok's pilot ship was supposedly rather small and then I wondered if perhaps it would be designed to perhaps allow us to see outward into space. It was essentially supposed to be a collection of spheres and beyond that we knew little else.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

Great work in this thread, glad to see it back on top...

Would love to see just a little yellow glow around those windows.

Hopefully I'll get to contribute once I get my season 1 dvds and some time!

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

Another ship that could fly around in the later 23th century. The Sydney class

This one is the USS Terran, i use it for a fan fic on another board near you.. when its up that is .. :p ;)

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

I've been offline due to Cousin Ivan's tour through west Alabama. Happy to see Warped9 is busy! ;)

Having windows would have made more sense. Why else would they have beamed aboard?...unless they knew there was a fresh batch of tranya already made by Balok. :D :D :D

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

Yeah, I like the transparency better. I may play a little more with it.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

That footage must have ended up on the cutting room floor. You are a bad, bad boy.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

I was amazed too, this one is going in the books. I think only few others managed such views, one of them being the origonal Mulgrew picture thread, (I think that was 40000+)

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

I was just catching up on this thread and think it's great. I even saved some of the images to my system here at work for use in my screen saver.

I really loved the multi-colored TWOK style uniforms. Has anyone taken the Star Trek 5 promotional picture and done the same colors? If not, can I ask someone to do so? I'd love to see those colors with the crew as I best remember them.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

I've just spent the past week going through this thread. I am amazed and stunned! A lot of Warped9's images just inspire me to write episodes to cover them.

Now, I'm in real time, waiting just like everyone else. I can't believe my impatience and desire to see MORE!

Thank you for your immense talent! ;)

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

I snipped this from another thread in the TOS forum:

My one change would be to put you in charge of editing new dvds from the orginal masters, with a good cgi department to assist you. I've really enjoyed the Never Seen TOS Scenes thread, and you have the right idea about touching up, not replacing totally.

I'm humbled (and blushing). That is very gracious of you to say. Thank you. :)

Candidly I'd enjoy a chance to tackle one or two episodes to see what could be made of it while still remaining faithful to the original artistic integrity.

One of the first things I'd do is take a page from the TMP DE by getting some good people together to construct a superb cgi model of the Enterprise as indistinguishable as possible from the original 11 footer with the exception that the unseen left side would now be finished. I'd essentially reshoot all the exterior ship sequences, conditionally. Where an original sequence was perfectly feasible I would reshoot as is with the exception of adding a little more visual depth to the starscape and more shadow to the ship. In sequences that were not truly feasible is where I would insert a newly envisioned sequence yet still maintain the authentic TOS feel. A perfect example of this can be found throughout this thread where we see the ship in never before seen scenarios such as depicting the aft phaser or starboard phaser firing. Some of "The Doomsday Machine" shots seen in this thread would also be possible while still looking as if they'd been done in the original style.

The ship exterior sequences would be essentially the easiest to do since you would be simply replacing the original footage while still retaining the original sound f/x and music.

The interior sequences would be the most challenging since you would have to affect a change in every frame involved and take into account changing perspective as the camera (pov) moves.

But these sort of things will be within reach of dedicated fans in the not too far future I believe as cgi programs become more sophisticated and accessible. Within a few years it may indeed be possible for a few dedicated fans to affect the sort of changes I'm suggesting. I'm aware that it was already attempted some years ago by a group called Digital Streams wherein they reimagined "The Doomsday Machine." But what little I've seen of it really does look rather crude in comparison to some of the work I've seen by dedicated fans more recently here on this very BBS.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

Warped9, we've been 11 days without a pic from you. :D

I feel withdrawals coming on...and I'm not talking about my checking account.

PIIICCCCSSSS PLLEEEEAAAASSSSEEE! :D :D

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

I'm not Warped but what about a Klingon BoP and a Sydney class ship?. (its a scene i used for a fan fic.)

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

Nothing like a hit from Santa! :D

michiel, you can work on Chekov's face forever and never fix it...not that I'm doubting your ability...but even an artist needs a subject with which to work.
