Neelix as Dorfmann and other borrowed ideas

Captain Proton

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
The episode 'Rise' uses the same twist that the movie 'Flight of the Phoenix' used when Dorfmann revealed that he worked on model airplanes only after everyone put their lives in his hands thinking he knew how to build a real one...Are there any other episodes where something like this happens?

Good catch. I always loved this episode. I don't know why it gets so much hate. This Dark Trilogy thing is just ridiculous. It's a great story for Neelix and a very interesting perspective on his relationship with Tuvok. I also like the concept of the Orbital tether. Plus it got the wonderful Kelly Connell as a guest star.

+1 Arthur Clarkes 'Space Elevator' based on real science...Great episode, especially the end with the Tuvok and Neelix back and forth about how Tuvok always must get the last word in; one of the funniest moments in Voyager IMO.
