NCIS first premiered as a two-part backdoor pilot on JAG (the episodes Ice Queen and Meltdown, IIRC), so it is indeed a spin-off of that series and not The Presidio.

i wonder if ncis new york will have the same ncis style buddy cop type genre like in ncis sydney
I mean, the buddy cop thing is sort of a staple throughout the entire NCIS franchise, so it stands to reason it'll be in the New York series as well.
i guess lol but from what i seen in ncis sydney there was somewhat comedy style buddy cop elements
like evelyn aka evie partnered up with deshawn out and bluebird with travis aka trigger
it was kinda also like that on ncis hawaii

NCIS is the last show remaining that aired during disgraced CEO Les Moonves' tenure. Seems like a surprise at first since CBS loves to keep their procedurals on forever, but all those long-running shows are either done (Blood Bloods, NCIS: Los Angeles, S.W.A.T.) or moved to Paramount+ (Criminal Minds).
