digits, do you have a guess as to what happened? Yeah, I know OSU came loaded for Trojan, but still I saw what you jsut referred to - more than a little problem with tackling. I can't believe that injuries played that big of a role, did they?
No I don't think injuries were the problem. Everything else was the problem.
If you look at Oregon State's last touchdown, the (defensive) problem was abundantly clear. Cushing filled the hole perfectly, went to tackle the kid, and basically whiffed as Rodgers ran under him. It sounds stupid but Rodgers was sliding under tackles all night because he's so short. I have no idea why USC didn't adjust faster. USC tacklers never got low enough, and the kid has some serious strength. USC didn't load the box until the second half, when they were already down 21-0. Once they did that, they held OSU to 6 points, but it was too late.
On offense, Joe McKnight had a terrible night. He had ten yards of rushing, a dropped pass, and a fumble in Oregon State territory. USC did not run the ball effectively.
The penalties...oh, the penalties. Terrible, stupid penalties.
Lastly this was the first game where Sanchez faced serious pressure. He was running out of the pocket a lot.
Let's face it. Oregon State did a great job in every phase of the game. We just got beat.
