NBA 2010-2011

I know. They had to lose games somewhere to be the eighth seed. It shows the strength of the west as compared to the east. I think the Thunder will get its shit together. They've been remarkably successful with adjustments.

Rarrrr Grizz!

Who'da thunk that in the 2010-2011 season TN's most successful teams would be the NBA and NHL franchises? :mallory:

Enjoy it while you can, Grizz. The Thunder will wake up.
'
Thank God for the internet because my cable was totally messing up during the Lakers' game. :scream: :scream: Looks like the Lakers endured a little 2nd round home court woe of their own.

This is what I was telling Digits; there is no way you can compare a game 1 loss by the Lakers to a game 1 loss by the Thunder. The teams are on entirely different tracks.

What the Lakers are attempting to do is infinitely harder than what the Thunder are trying to do. For a team that has been in the last 3 Finals and trying to make it a 4th AND win it's 3rd championship in a row, well, a game 1 loss just doesn't have that much meaning.

The Thunder, on the other hand, are simply trying to win a playoff series and are finding out how much harder it is being the hunted rather than the hunter.

They took care of business tonight. :) Took away Memphis' strength inside. Amazing what can be accomplished when you actually pull your head out and play defense. Gasol was pretty much neutralized. That mouthy bastard Zach "no one on their team can guard me" Bryant (his eager to be offered opinion after game one) was guarded quite well, thank you. The crowd didn't let him forget.

Of course all Barkley could talk about post game was how impressive Memphis was in the loss. He's taking it as a given that Memphis will win the series. I'm getting slightly ticked off. :scream:

well, a game 1 loss just doesn't have that much meaning.

Why not? It'll have plenty of meaning if they don't win game two. This baffles me about Lakers' fans, this single minded, unwavering faith that LA can just turn it on whenever they want. Father time is catching up. It happens to everyone. Losing game one was a big deal for all three higher seeds that lost. I'm not saying they won't win game 2, but I don't understand the blind faith that I hear constantly. I wasn't sure my Thunder would win tonight. I talked a good game, but I was scared spitless. :alienblush:

Come on Thunder, just keep doing what you're doing. Deny them inside, make your free throws.

Ooooh, nice steal. Play that aggressive defense, OKC. Now we're up 16--knock on wood. That can disappear if they lose intensity like I've seen them do before.

NOOOOOOO!!!! Ibaka, you can't go down!!! You've been killing Memphis with blocked shots and defense!! Of course that toadstool "no one can defend me" Randolph is involved.

EDIT--Here we go again. 4th quarter and the other team is sneaking back in. Why can't the Thunder ever forcefully pound that last nail into the coffin and nail it shut???? :scream:

Wanted to check in while this game is still ongoing and say no matter what happens, the Grizz have already made themselves more relevant than they've ever been. :mallory:

We were up by 16, now we're up by 1.

One. :scream: If the Thunder loses this game, Scott Brooks may well murder Westbrook in the locker room. Kevin Durant is the best fourth quarter scorer in the entire league and Westbrook is WAVING HIM OFF. Durant not getting touches on the ball??????? :censored: :censored:

Memphis is about to take the lead. This is going to be a horrendous loss for the Thunder on the road. They have literally pissed it away. I can't believe this SHIT. :censored:

And Westbrook turns it over!!!!! I can't believe this. We had this game in the bag. What is going on????? Forget Brooks. The fans may kill him. Extremely poor decision making that's going to cost the Thunder the game. Waving off Kevin Durant, getting his pocket picked, taking quick shots (and missing) early in the possession when they were still leading and needed to milk the clock.

Again, no passes by Westbrook and he misses the shot. Next possession, no touches by Durant. Westbrook at the line. He can tie. He makes them both.

A little of both.

Jeez, Oklahoma City can't buy a basket in the overtime and Perkins just fouled out. Oklahoma City is done. Cripes, the announcer is asking, "What happened to Oklahoma City's offense?" Let me tell you folks, this collapse is spectacular. They should be deeply, deeply embarrassed by this loss. When you have a 16 point lead ON THE ROAD you nail the coffin SHUT before they figure out a combination to defend Durant, which they did. Memphis only missed about 100 free throws. Everything was going swimmingly and then complete collapse. This collapse deserves its due. :scream: It needs proper respect. Don't be afraid to rip the Thunder. They deserve it today, Russell Westbrook most especially. Brooks is going to murder him. He is culpable and a half.

And on his last two possessions, Westbrooks slips and coughs up the ball, and then he's called for an offensive foul on the next. Brooks may never tell anyone where he's going to hide the body. For 3 quarters he could do no wrong, then his immaturity and impulsiveness completely took over. Terrible, TERRIBLE performance.

Rajon Rondo showed a lot of heart coming back from that dislocated elbow by a somewhat dirty takedown by Dwayne Wade.

Celtics will likely lose this series, but at least they can be content with the fact that they're not in the Lakers position at this moment in time.

^The Celtics have a penchance for suffering 'life threatening' injuries and coming back 5 minutes later just fine. (See Pierce, Paul, 2008 NBA Finals)

Has there ever been a team as unrootable as this group? The only likeable one is Ray Allen.

Apples and oranges.
This gruesome injury basically had people thinking he would be out for the postseason. An elbow is not normally designed to bend in that direction...

If this morning you had told me that two Lakers would get tossed from today's game with the Mavs, I'd have bet good money one of them would have been Artest.

Lakers are punks. Yeah, I would have bet Artest as well.

Damn, Oklahoma City has to win their series now. The Mavericks will have been lulled into a sense of complacency after dispatching the pathetic Lakers so easily. They'll be ripe for the picking. Do you think they finally believe they aren't going to win? ;) Hell, I'm in such a pissy mood after yesterday I've got to get my fun somewhere.

It really stinks that Phil Jackson's coaching career ends (in all likelihood) with a game like this.

+1
Though, admittedly, I do rather feel bad that Jackson's career had to end on such a note.
I believe this was Jackson's first ever loss by sweep in the playoffs.

Too bad for Phil Jackson if this is the end, but I'm not at all sad that the Lakers are out of the playoffs. Good riddance, they're part of the reason I don't typically care about the NBA. Now if only Boston and Miami could take each other out...

Oh well, unless Atlanta somehow pulls through, I'm rooting for whoever comes out of the west.
