Not a good roundball day for me yesterday. My team (Orlando) got knocked out already, so I don't have a dog in the fight.
I was hoping for a Bulls-Lakers 20th anniversary rematch. Lakers got eliminated and Bulls lost.
I am surprised how bad LA looked. I fugred they'd at least have a strong showing and try to get it back to LA. They just looked like horseshit. The two cheap shots didn't help their image as a classy organization.
I hope OKC wins their series. The thought of Mavs-Griz as a West final is dreadful unless you're a fan of either.

The Heat really showed me something tonight, eventually. Still can't understand how they had so much trouble defending Rondo. 
As to the West... I don't know that OKC is a much more attractive option to Memphis. The Thunder does have one thing though..... Durant, perhaps the fastest rising young star in the league

Eh, he's only at about 65% with his knees. He'll see better days and so will the Thunder.
And they're much more attractive than Memphis and that petulant Randolph. It doesn't matter. Dallas is going to methodically slice them up and spit them up. The monkey is off their back.

Much more? I doubt that. Memphis is a #8 seed so their winning over the presumed superior team makes them attractive. And Randolph has been one of the most valuable performers so far this post season, almost impossible to stop. And they might be the tougher match for Dallas with their physical play. Then again, if Perkins can play through his pain... either one is more than going to be more than a handful for the Mavs
No, no, no, no......you're judging the Mavs by the past. Don't do that. The monkey is off that team's back. Though the Mavs are hoping everyone will do that. Lure them in and take them down. They've become cool and methodical. Memphis, though tough, has chinks in the armor. I'm not at all impressed by their free throw shooting, and they're prone to turnovers, at least in this series. They've gone stone cold shooting right now. Crap. 53-49. Just enough for me to get sucked in and stupid enough to hope.
Man, an Oklahoma City/Dallas series would be awesome. OKC isn't that far removed from Cinderella. How quickly the mantle changes.

Is the game over? Someone told me the clock has finally ticked 0:00 and my Thunder were victorious? Not a vicious rumor, no? They didn't blow yet another lead? Perkins was allowed to live? I was on my way across the metro to help evict some drunks at my hotel. No one can handle a thing by themselves and my boss sure as hell isn't going to get his lazy ass out of bed, no sir. Not the emperor.
I'm the sales manager for crying out loud. Cripes, my Thunder pulled that out of their rear ends on the road. I cannot believe they recovered emotionally. They watch film every day and discuss their mistakes and apparently learn from them. It's their bench that won it for them. A deep bench can outlast a marathon.

If Durant or Westbrook get cold on Sunday--they could be sitting at home Tuesday very easily. Damn, this makes me mad. Could have had it put away, but no. OKC has all the pressure on them Sunday. To paraphrase Clerks, the Grizzlies aren't even supposed to be here today.
Stoked to finally see a Game 7 though. Plus Bulls-Heat should be an awesome series. The weather here is supposed to suck tomorrow, so an afternoon of playoffs sounds good to me.

I have to work Sunday. I'll miss the game entirely.
But the Grizz don't have enough seasoned stars to win a game 7 on the road. It will take a massive fold by OKC to not make it into the conference finals where they will lose to the Mavs. OKC doesn't have enough seasoned stars to beat Dallas especially without home court.
The Mavs will then in turn lose to the Heat (who will beat Chicago, likely in 6 or less), in the Finals. LeBron will get a ring this season and we'll have to put up with his insufferable manufactured "humility" until he inevitably slips up and allows the real LeBron through. But we will be happy for DWade, a great player who has deserved more recognition as such, and Riles who remains a Laker at heart.
A Mavs/Heat Finals will do decently in the ratings only if they get to a game 7 or at least game 6. David Stern must be on anti-depressants at the thought of a Finals without the Lakers. He wouldn't be the only one.

Because in the 2-2-1-1-1 format, game 1 is the least important of any of the possible 7 games. Game 2 is the first important game in this format. In game 2, the team with HCA will either hold service and put themselves in position to put stranglehold on a series, or the road team takes HCA and heads home with the same opportunity.
Losing game 1 to the Mavs didn't bother me. But after the Lakers lost game 2, I was officially worried. The Lakers unfortunately failed to "kick it up a notch" in the playoffs and couldn't match the Mavs intensity. No doubt going for their 4th straight Finals appearance took a little out of them. But make no mistake, had the Lakers been able to bring it the way they had even last season, they would still playing now. Oh well, it was a nice run for the last 4 seasons. But don't misunderstand, with their core intact, the Lakers will be back strong next season.
Things change in the 2-3-2 Finals format. It team with HCA has much less of an advantage. If the team with HCA loses game 1 (or game 2), it faces the next 3 games on the road and the prospect of going down 3-1. In the 2-3-2 format, the home team NEEDS to win both games 1 and 2. Not impossible to come back and win if they don't, less likely.
