Sorry - don't trust comments from described as being from "family friends" - gossip mags use them way too often to basically get away with flat out lies.

If you were going to take a brain-dead patient off life support, why would you fly them, on life support, to a different country to do it? Does that make any sense whatsoever?

Because that's where her family is. It would be less likely that they'd transport someone still in the acute stage of a head injury, because transport could destabilize her.

A neurosurgeon I know speculates it's what's known as a "talk and die" injury. The patient appears fine, but a slow leak in an artery leads to an arterial blow-out and hemorrhage. These sorts of injuries are not usually seen on CT.

I admire her family's refusal to speak. They don't need to display their grief for public showing. Unfortunately, I suspect Ms. Richardson isn't likely to recover. The doctors would have said something by now. These situations, when you start thinking about the day the person *didn't* die but they still left you--I can't imagine a worse hell.

Several sources are claiming that she's been taken off of life support. I haven't heard any official announcement, though.

Damn. That's just awful.

She was a healthy, talented woman with a loving family and everything going for her.

One little slip, a little bump, and it could be fatal. It's yet another reminder for us all of how fragile we really are.

I was just at the Post website and they're still reporting that she was removed from life support this afternoon, not that she passed.

The older I get, the more saddened I am when someone not relatively old has passed. Especially when it is someone who appears to be in a terrific relationship and also has children. From what I read, she was very attentive to Liam when he wrecked his motorcycle a few years back. And here he is unable to do much for her in return but be wracked with anguish. I can only imagine what's going through his mind.

I get said when older people die as well, but this case is particularly sad. Liam was expecting to see her after he got home from shooting. He didn't know the last time they talked would be the last time. It happens every day in the world, but it's never easy for the loved ones.
