Hi guys,
Thanks for the patience! Here's my answers to the previous game:
Answer: The Lights of Zetar
Clue # 1
This episode strongly centres around the top four as a team, unseparated and united.
Whilst we have alien threats in other episodes, here in particular, Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scotty work on a united front. Sure, Scotty is lovesick, but none of them argue or question command decisions. The tension is completely directed at the alien menace of the week. Also, the crew is altogether on the ship, whereas a lot of episodes, the main four are divided into at least two parties. Shatner is on top form as a professional, cool, non-OTT captain. There is no frustration. From the Memory Alpha scenes through to the briefing room and then sickbay, all work together efficiently to remedy the situation.
Clue # 2
Even Spock and McCoy do not bicker.
Indeed, this is an example where the two act entirely respectfully and professionally. They know the dangers and their respective roles, and get on with the task in hand. Even Spock shares a small joke with McCoy about Scott's patience. As another user commented, TI is another similar example.
Clue # 3
One of our heroes is acting out of the ordinary, but not in the way another hero - at one point - suspects and scolds him for.
Kirk initially thinks Scott is sick when he discovers him in Sickbay. He asks if Scott is sick and makes a sarcastic response. Of course, Scott is never ill, even rarely influenced by alien or space anomolies. Here, our hero is acting out of the ordinary for him, but not that of sickness - he is in love.
Clue # 4
Some excellent lighting (or non-lighting) in one particular location.
The shadows and darkness really sell the eerie Memory Alpha. Sometimes less is more.
Clue # 5
A recycled shot is put to great use here.
That lovely ariel view of Kirk from The Galileo Seven is fitting in Kirk's speech about the loneliness of Scott's life. Fitting, as Kirk too is isolated to an extent, as the Captain, and this shot emphasises Kirk's own vulnerability.
Clue # 6
Three key moments, and then one more.
Three times Mira had visions of the future. And then one final vision which was prevented - that of Scott dying.
Clue # 7
Almost a full cast in this episode, with only one or two earlier characters not present.
Aside from Rand, De Salle and Riley, is every other 'recurring/regular' actor (at least for the third season) in this episode? We even have Kyle in the Transporter Room.
Clue # 8
This is the second of two times we visit a body such as this.
I believe this is the second of two times we visit a planetoid, rather than a full blown planet. The other being Metamorphosis, as described in Spock's analysis upon arrival in the Shuttlcraft.
Clue # 9
A rare occasion in which we get to know a little bit more about a character's family, besides the good captain and his pointy-eared chum.
We learn the names of Mira's parents, that her mother died and what her father used to do before retiring. We also discover a little about her medical/psychiatric background.
Clue # 10
The character in clue # 9 is a guest star.
Indeed.
Well done RubySlipppers!
I hope everyone had a great Christmas!
