I'm going to guess Nurse Chapel. If it's right I'll try to figure out some good reasons why. But, right now I'm zeroing in on the voice thing and the thought that the computer coincidentally sounds a lot like her.

EDIT: So now I've come back and added some reasons. Some more lame than others.

In "For the World is Hollow ..." McCoy yells at Nurse Chapel and she waits for the Captain before she will leave.

2. Thankfully, I also maintained my post early.
She had a post in "The Cage" very early.

3. I must have declined the opportunity to participate in the late-game mirth.
Nurse Chapel was told (by Dr. McCoy) to leave sickbay at the end of "Amok time" so that the boys could chat.

4. I think I'll also opt out of this whole uniform mixup.
Sometimes her uniforms seemed unusual and then there is "Plato's Stepchildren".

She was not always around but even when not around as Nurse Chapel, she might show up as the voice of the computer.

1. Computer records show Kirk pushed my red button and not my yellow button.
2. I'm always ready for the Captain's butt, anytime of the day or night.
3. I'm usually in the mix during the mirth on the bridge, but I'm left out when they mirth off the bridge.
4. No uniform for me, I just get a new paint job occasionally.
5. The computer does all the talking for the hardware and equipment on the bridge. I'm mute.
6. I never felt her fanny in my seat, so, was she really in charge?

**I've always preferred "lock" for that awesome line but I think John Winston (right?) says "log" and either makes sense to me.

1. He usually repeats Kirk's orders verbatim like "Warp 1".
2. He's usually at the helm.
3. He's not in the Rec Room when Uhura and gang are entertaining Riley in the Engine Room.
4. Obviously, my fabulous shirtless scene.
5. Takei was needed to voice over his "Green Beret" scenes and missed several Star Trek episodes.
6. In the Naked Time, when Sulu finally returned to duty, Uhura must have been in charge on the bridge after Kirk went down to Engineering. I think Yeoman Rand was on helm and no one at Nav. Everyone else was drunk in their chairs, and, Uhura was the only functional officer on the bridge.
7. Sulu liked to go either to the Rec Room and the Botany Lab when off duty...yep, that's all we ever see on-screen.

I'll bet you credits to navy beans that it is not DeSalle. And Jackson might have executed a fantastic fall from the transporter pad, but he wasn't big on issuing anything other than death threats, so it isn't him either. However . . . .

Yes!!! It's Scotty from Patterns of Force!!! WTG, Henoch!!

Scotty has one line in Patterns of Force, so he really makes it stick for the record:

KIRK: Insert the transponders. Make one low pass to communication range in three hours. If we fail to make contact at the appointed time, take our co-ordinates from the transponder and beam us aboard no matter what our condition may be.
SCOTT: Aye, sir. Whatever your condition.

Sweet! This is the sort of action I want from my favorite character!!

However, he's also on the bridge for the Ekosian missile attack on the Enterprise . . . but says nothing. Nice shot of the engineering station's panel displays, though.

There's some ninth-inning frivolity between Spock and McCoy (who is not a massive tool to Spock, but only engages him in banter), and Scotty is sensibly absent.**

**Actually this is arguably the best Heh-Heh Ending in all of S2. And it gave us Lee Kuan.

McCoy can't get his Paramount-issue Gestapo uniform on, and because everyone needed to keep Scotty out of the action for some reason (like Jimmy Doohan costing too much or whatever), Scotty isn't on hand. Which is too bad because I think he would have added to the comic relief.

I loved the guesses on this one. But I was referring to the fact that Scotty pulls a similar disappearing act in Return to Tomorrow. He has a few lines and is present for the RISK . . . isourBUSiness!!! speech, but although he's in command of a priceless Starfleet vessel with three omnipotent aliens aboard, he completely vanishes after Henoch tells him to soak his head. Probably because he was off using the echo effect in someone's sonic shower to phone in Sargon's vocals.

With Scotty evidently busy elsewhere, Kirk liaises with Uhura to get to the bottom (heh) of McCoy's costuming situation, then orders her to beam them aboard at the end. Sounds like maybe she was running things. Again. Without being seen doing so. Again.

I assume Scotty remained on the ship, unless he beamed down to Ekos to sample some Gewürztraminer or a nice Riesling (I assume Gill also brought over native German cuisine and viniculture to complete the effect), so after his huge line I figured he went off to the engine room . . . and is there one engine room, or two?? (Debate currently airing on another thread.)

The last guess was Sulu, so we went one link up the chain of command for our solution, and the "force" reference was to POF's title.
