Good guess, but no.
Also, that ritual didn't appear until "BEHIND THE LINES".
It seems it was only shown in one episode, as often in these cases.
The first appearance thing isn't a trick, is it? It's definitely a recurring character and not a one appearance character?
The Changing Face Of Evil. First appearance of Rusot, references the Alamo program which O'Brien and Bashir really want to win. Winn gets the Kosta Mogen, a thing of value. Winn murders Solbor with a knife.
No, but good guess. And yes, it was not a one off character.
I am at work now, so I'll post another clue tomorrow morning or noon.
Next clue... brother against brother.
Was Bar Association Brunt’s first appearance?
Nope. It was the one about his mother "Family Business"
"The Emperor's New Cloak"?
To The Death, first appearance of Weyoun, similar field that makes it so blades are required, thing of value, Iconian gate...
Hey, it really looks like you're onto something there!!
I would add that the Jems fighting each other is really brother against brother, in a wide sense of "brother".
"TO THE DEATH" is correct! To explain...
It's a big step... with the Iconian gateway, one can step onto another world. That's a pretty large step.
A character makes a first appearance... this is Weyoun's first appearance.
Blades are effective... phasers didn't work around the gateway, so they resorted to bladed weapons. Which killed very effectively.
This guy really wants a victory... the Jem'Hadar motto "Victory is life" is mentioned here, and Toman'torax REALLY wants a victory by killing a Klingon. Sadly, he disobeyed orders, and is killed for it.
Great value... Omet'iklan valued his Second, who he killed for that breach of discipline.
Brother against brother... Omet'iklan and his group are battling against the renegade Jem'Hadar at the ziggurat, in a way brothers fighting against each other.
Your turn, JP!
Thanks! That was a tough one, but clues made perfect sense once you got it.

Since the Quickening has already been guessed I'll say: The Wire
