It was either the Borg makeup or the silver catsuit.Wasn't there a story that Jeri Ryan passed out or almost passed out because one of the earlier costumes was so tight?

Kes wore catsuits too

maybe not make her so robotic in how she deals with people.
So true. It's not like she looks bad in a standard Starfleet uniform:And Jeri Ryan is sexy. It's not like they needed to put her in a skin tight uniform for her to be sexy.
Yeah, the clothes she wore gave the impression that she was a civilian employee, rather than a bona-fide member of the crew.I'll give Seven this though: at least the writers had freedom in choosing her outfits, as she wasn't part of Starfleet and something of an unique case- even if I happened to not like the choices made. For Deanna, there was no such excuse- she simply should have worn the Starfleet uniform.
Well, someone in charge was upviously obsessed with women in catsuits.Kes wore catsuits too
I just think it made her stand out too much as not being a part of the crew. I think, as they experimented with more colors and designs, it got better, but initially, it was a strange look.Yeah, the clothes she wore gave the impression that she was a civilian employee, rather than a bona-fide member of the crew.
Sex had always been a part of star trek back to the original series. They didn't have catsuits but they just showed lots of skinWell, someone in charge was upviously obsessed with women in catsuits.
However, I must state that Kes's catsuit (which was a ridiculous idea) wasn't as "sexy" as Seven's, Troi's and T'Pol's catsuits.
Neither was Kira's.
I agree with that. I never understood why Troi was not in uniform.I'll give Seven this though: at least the writers had freedom in choosing her outfits, as she wasn't part of Starfleet and something of an unique case- even if I happened to not like the choices made. Well, we had the beautiful ladies in Neelix's program too.Sex had always been a part of star trek back to the original series. They didn't have catsuits but they just showed lots of skin

A catsuit seems pretty conservative next to some of the original series outfits
The thing is the writers didn't have to give her the same backstory when creating the character. Their is no reason they couldn't create a more emotional ex-Borg if they wanted to.She'd been a drone for eighteen years. The other ex-Borg woman in Unity and the Bajoran ex-Borg woman in Survival Instinct both had been assimilated as adults and had been drones only for a few years. Seven had been assimilated as a young child and had been a drone for the vast majority of her life. Of course, she's not going to have an "everybody else" kind of a personality and that's exactly what made her unique as a character. It wouldn't have been believable for her not to have had a "robotic" manner. She'd have been boring if she'd been just like "everybody else".
Finding her personality "sexual" is your own interpretation, which you admitted, and gives me the impression that you've only seen the "trailers."The thing is the writers didn't have to give her the same backstory when creating the character. I mean I don't hate what they did for the most part I am just saying that the sexual allure was a huge thing that went into creating the character from both personality and catsuit.
I think we can all agree at least on one thing even if we don't mind catsuits is that the silver one was beyond absurd. The future ones were at least a little more subtle but with the silver one they could have had her walking around all naked and it would have been more subtle than that version.
Jason
I read, somewhere, that NIchelle didn't mind the skirt because she had a similar wardrobe at home, so it didn't strike her as odd. Compare that the to Kelvin universe and Zoe struggling with her own personal comfort in wearing that skirt, and I think there might be some other considerations, and not just the blanket of TOS screencaps that are being presented.I'll agree that those TOS outfits can be seen as being as least as "provocative" as the outfits of 7.
Then again, I don't know what public reaction was back in the 60's in the U.S. , but I'd imagine that had they been tried in the 90's in VOY (or DS9), they would have caused the same type of reactions that 7 got.
I agree completely.Maybe all female characters on Voyager should have had catsuits and/or miniskirts already from the start. That would have solved all problems.
Braga would have loved it, that would definitely have attracted more male teenage viewers which had raised the ratings and then it would have been more money for Berman to count.
And Jeri Taylor could have come up with a story about the responsible for that dress code having a problem or issue with his/her father!

I swear I don't know how some of those costumes stayed on.A catsuit seems pretty conservative next to some of the original series outfits
Which one? They were all just guest stars, weren't they?By the way, which one of the beautiful ladies in the picture above became a main character in TOS?
