In discussions, people bring up the idea that the anomaly is an allegory for COVID-19 or climate change.
If there is an intelligence behind the anomaly with whom you can negotiate, or it was caused deliberately, it would negate allegory.
I mean they literally had the Guardian of Forever in season 3 so...Ya know, its possible that the writers of Discovery didn’t realize that they can do follow ups to certain stories when they first wrote S3 and decided that they can revisit the idea at a later date.
A good deal of the writing is aimed at attracting a younger audience. And that may be where their focus is at first, and not TNG stories from 30 years ago.
