I don't know that I've ever heard anything by Bieber - but I know what he looks like. Ah, celebrity.
I can totally understand why people like Katy Perry. I just don't understand why they like her music too.

Pop music for screaming teenage girls. Thats a genre, right?
Well, I'm not a casual listener. I get into music hugely. I get emotional over lots of songs. I enjoy rap, hip-hop, dubstep, all also not meant for the casual listener.
I still, when listening to most heavy or death metal, don't hear anything except noise and screaming. I think that translates as 'don't get'.
I understand. DM makes me move and I need that. I'll admit that it took me some time to get into DM but once I did I never turned back. Here are some good bands that might change your mind about the genre:
Death (RIP Chuck Schuldiner)
Dark Tranquility
Scar Symmetry
) I still know what I like and what I don't like, open mindedness is one thing, but keeping personal taste is another. 
Ok, I went and listened to those bands.
The first one, Death, I listened to a song called Bite the Pain. Good instrumental, until someone starts the 'vocals' and ruins everything.
Second one, I listened to 'Misery's Crown' and 'Shadow In Our Blood', Again, a good instrumental, and actually decent singing on the verses. Unfortunately, again, most of the time, the singing is raspy shouting. I can't enjoy that.
The final band, I think was the best of the three. I listened to 'Morphogenesis' and 'Ascension Chamber'. Morphogenesis at times, doesn't sound particularly 'death metal', but there's still that raspy screaming, to remind you exactly what genre you're in.
. The chorus, I will admit, I did enjoy. Good beat, and some good lyrics, when you could hear them sung.
'Ascension Chamber' had two guys singing, one with that 'death metal voice', and another with a slightly more listenable voice. Kind of in the middle of that little foray into where I would normally not venture.
So, really, I don't think I'll ever be a fan of death metal, but occasionally, it can throw up some decent songs.
As long as they don't do that rasping screaming, that seems to be a staple of the genre.
Is it meant to be there? At least rap (I want so much to leap to its defence, excuse me a second) doesn't make me want to tear my ears out when the main vocalist is doing his vocal things.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a headache and need to listen to some pop
