Conversely I can't understand why some people like Katy Perry.
I love Katy Perry's music. I also like hip-hop and rap.

Yeah. I think I do.I like and dislike songs and performers from all genres.
Ah, but do you "get" them?

Seriously?????The Bealtes, Justin bieber,
Heavy metal. It just sounds like noise to me. Any other genre or mashup of genres, but just that or any other derivative like death metal, I can't see the appeal.
It's not meant for the casual listener. Death Metal is an avant-garde sound that I enjoy when I'm PO'd.

I can totally understand why people like Katy Perry. I just don't understand why they like her music too.![]()
Okay then.
Pop music for screaming teenage girls. Thats a genre, right?Since when were the Beatles or Justin Bieber genres?

Well, I'm not a casual listener. I get into music hugely. I get emotional over lots of songs. I enjoy rap, hip-hop, dubstep, all also not meant for the casual listener.
I still, when listening to most heavy or death metal, don't hear anything except noise and screaming. I think that translates as 'don't get'.

I understand. DM makes me move and I need that. I'll admit that it took me some time to get into DM but once I did I never turned back. Here are some good bands that might change your mind about the genre:
Death (RIP Chuck Schuldiner)
Dark Tranquility
Scar Symmetry
Just wait until you find about Ninja Metal. You'll never hear it coming....and then, along came Pirate Metal.
And you realized--you hadn't.![]()
