Although very few of my friends/work colleagues are into Trek, they can be as passionate and vocal about music as TOS vs TNG. I like to think I have fairly eclectic tastes (from Abba to Zydeco) and can appreciate most music, but know some can be vociferous or just not get some genres. Personally, I find some hardcore jazz a bit 'wtf' and indulgent and classic C&W has never really appealed, but that could be cultural reasons. Curious to know what music genres others don't get and why. Also any mash-ups you think work: for me, I like the Aerosmith(?)/Run DMC 'Walk This Way' as good cross-music pollination.

I don't want to hear people talking over a drum machine. If you want to write poetry, just write poetry, but don't write some forced child level rhymes and stick it over a drum machine and stolen sample of a real song and call it music.
