Multiple mirror episodes this season!

Just saw this...

At New York Comic Con, ComicBook.com caught up with Star Trek: Discovery co-creator and executive producer Alex Kurtzman and asked if the experimental spore drive engine being tested on the USS Discovery, which makes the vessel capable of essentially teleporting through space, could be used as a means to set up classic Star Trek style plots involving time travel and parallel universes.

“Well, it sort of leaked that we are going to be doing some episodes about the mirror universe,” Kurtzman said. “And yes, we’re going to be paying homage to the original.”

When Kurtzman says that the information about the Mirror Universe appearing on Star Trek: Discovery “leaked,” he means that Jonathan Frakes, the former Star Trek: The Next Generation star who will direct an upcoming episode of Discovery, let the information slip during a Star Trek convention panel.

However, Frakes indicated that Star Trek: Discovery would have a single episode in its first season that involved the mirror universe. Kurtzman said they are doing “some episodes” about the mirror universe, suggesting that the mirror universe may be involved in an extended arc of Star Trek: Discovery.

My only problem with this is that it implies a crossover. I'd have preferred they go the IAMD route, and have episodes taking place entirely in the Mirror Universe.

Oh well. One takes what one can get. At least we know they won't ruin the MU like DS9 did.

Considering how short modern seasons are, it would be a horrible idea to devote multiple episodes to develop characters who will then be dropped. You'd be talking about nine remaining episodes tops to wrap up the season arc.

We do?

They were already telling two different sides of a war story. They couldn't mine enough out of that for 15 episodes without a detour to the Mirror universe?

Well remember they were given two more episodes for the season after initially announcing 13. The MU episodes might be last minute.

Yes, an evil version of the one character that was a bright spot of proper Starfleet spirit in this bleak show . If this actually happens I'll take it as a sign that the writers are intentionally fucking with me.

But its the Mirror Universe.

Here's what I expect to see in Mirror-DSC:

- Red uniforms
- Landry NOT being a fucking idiot who got her tactical training from the back of a Wheaties box
- Redneck Stamets
- Jason Isaacs using his real accent
- Tilly being like Sam Phillips' character in Die Hard With A Vengeance
- No Saru. Instead they'll have somebody from the predator species from his homeworld

My thinking is that they end up there as a screw up in the Spore Drive (probably revenge from Ripper for Lorca overusing him to the point of hurting him) and sending them there on purpose.

They reason with him and he gets them back to the regular universe, and maybe they realize they shouldn't be using the damn Spore Drive anymore.

Just a thought, along with my thought that maybe they shouldn't be so scatterbrained with what they want to do with the first season and maybe concentrate on better writing overall?
