That would be fun, but would today's audience be satisfied with a robot that doesn't want to take over the world and kill everyone? There's a childlike innocence to Johnny 5 and Fisher Stevens' character that seems out of place nowadays.

It's a very different (and very good) story, but Wall-E himself is highly similar to Johnny Five in personality. Only, Johnny five if he spent his entire life alone and learned everything from old records (like video tapes, etc) in the middle of a barren dystopian world which he faithfully continued to try to clean up just like he was programmed to do.

The movie is anything but depressing and has many great callbacks to silent era filmmaking (though not a silent film, of course). Well worth seeing.

Twister: A sequel ever few years where the tornado's keep getting bigger and bigger and in the final one the movie plays it like it's trying to get revenge on Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt for all those years of trying to interfere with them. Jason

They could have tied in it to the Sharknado series. It turns out the storm is taking it's revenge by grabbing sharks, squids, whatever it can find and raining fish terror upon those who wronged it.

It might have been worse. By that point, already too many sequels.

I'd have loved anything more with McGann (outside of NOTD, which was great, but unfortunately the end).


I would've loved Red 3.
A third Blacula movie would've been cool (Blackenstein doesn't count).

Sounds depressing.

That's really just the setup at the start of the movie, and even that is done in a way that just makes this lonely little robot incredibly endearing. Later on he actually meets new people, and it's a really fun ride of a movie.

Short Circuit 3, early nineties, no idea what that plot might have been, but I’d have been in the queue to see it at the local Canon cinema.

Well, let's see. Themes could be artificial intelligence and this being the early 90's, the internet. Johnny 5 gets acquired by a new startup wanting to take advantage of the internet. They see the potential in Johnny 5 and hook him up to it. We've known over the course of the two movies that he's always hungry for more information. This turns out to be quite a boon for Johnny 5 as he absorbs everything there is to be had, maybe picking up early memes along the way. This would add more to his repertoire. The company itself is also experimenting with AI and connecting him to the internet helps them with that. The downside is also that Johnny 5 has absorbed everything; including the seedier sides of the internet (darknet?) and manages to download a virus onto himself, almost ruining the company in the process. Enter cameo from his original owner who helps the company reverse the situation.

"Back to the Future 4"
"Conan the Barbarian 3" (we'll see how King Conan turns out, but it's long after-the-fact, Arnold has turned into more of an idiot with the stupid things he's been saying, and Basil Poledouris is dead).
"Bill & Ted 3" (I don't know -- will this work after all this time? To be seen)
"Superman ?" (a GOOD sequel; not all those shitty ones)
"Riddick 4" (a sequel that actually explores what "The Chronicles of Riddick" set up but then dumped in favor of re-treading old ground)
"Ghostbusters 3" (if Bill hadn't been such a dick about wanting to come back only to get killed off and be a ghost; now Egon is dead -- thanks a lot, Bill)


And of course, a proper send-off for the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" cast.

Tron Legacy.

I loved the original Tron and I loved the sequel. I really wanted to see where it went, especially after the teaser stuff on the Blu-Ray release implying that Dillinger from the original and his son from a brief scene in the sequel were working together and the MCP might be involved. Plus Tron would've been back.

Same, I'd love to see another Tron movie. But apparently the loss Disney took with The Lone Ranger prevented that. Speaking of which, I would have liked to see them continue the Lone Ranger movies too. I actually liked the movie, especially the train chase, as ridiculous as it was! The only problem with it to me were the pace-killing scenes with the kid.

Disney at least still seems to have some interest in the series. Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is getting a Tron roller coasters and they rarely do anything with a property they don’t have any future plans for.

It’s actually beautiful. The whole movie is just this lonely little robot rolling around Earth until a sleek, more advanced one shows up. WALL-E after being left alone for centuries and seeing so many movies about love as developed loneliness and a need for love, so he keeps trying to get her to notice him and fall for him. There’s a lot more to it, but the emotional core is a love story between two robots.

I mean just look at the little guy. Who couldn’t love that?

I enjoyed TLR too, much more than eg the Pirates sequels. The train chase was fantastic - made me think Buster Keaton might’ve made it had he a budget of $250m.

That expression is very similar to the one on the face of a little tuxedo cat that's currently offered for adoption on the local Kijiji site. I'd take that cat in a nanosecond if the poster hadn't stipulated that for psychological reasons she needs to be an only cat.

Okay, I will watch this movie if/when it turns up on TV.
