More on Charlie X: Rec Room scene, Spock's lyre, Uhura's songs, gym

Re: More on Charlie X: Rec Room scene, Spock's lyre, Uhura's songs, g

Yeah she must of made the words up "on the spot"..because Charlie comes in after she's done with Spock and she sings a round for him too..... so she is obviously just be making it up as it comes to her. Yeah, she's just gifted like that.

In the Blish adaptation (based on an early draft), the rec room scene is not as well thought-out. It's instead referenced in a speech by Rand, who relates the events to Kirk. She tells him that Uhura was already singing a song called "Charlie is our Darling" when Charlie walked in and took it personally. Apparently we're supposed to believe the song is a "standard".

I think "Charlie is My Darling" is a standard. I think it's a couple of hundred years old. (1780? 1790? Somewhere in there.)

^^^ That's right...so to sum it up Spock was not really interested in Uhura in a sexual nature and vice-versa...Uhura and Rand were teasing him as "friends" sometimes do and that is the extent of it. I know everyone will agree with me on this...(lol)...now where is DevilEyes?

Looking for me? Do you need something? :)

Sure, just like she was not flirting with him at all in "The Man Trap". ;) Cakes, if that's what you want to believe, and we all know you do, I'm sure you can interpret everything that way, as long as you don't see them making out.

Many people who are friends are also sexually interested in each other, even though they might not want to be serious about it or try to do anything about it beyond friendly flirting. That's what flirting often is, a bit of fun and a release for some sexual tension, which, for this or that reason never goes beyond that.

^And his frustrated shrug when Uhura breaks out in a loud, high-pitched hum, distracting him from his harp.
It's very obvious in the scene Spock is not frustrated or annoyed at all, except in a friendly/humorous way. His grinning all the way through may be a hint. ;)

Yes it is, but not with the lyrics Uhura made up for it, for Spock, or for Charlie (hinting at Charlie's crush on Rand).

So here you just said it yourself... "friends are also sexually interested in each other, even though they might not want to be serious about it"...
So we're agreeing that they were just friends. So even if they were being sexual with each other...it was only in a friends/friendly way....right?! Great...me and you are "there" my sister.

And NO I won't believe in any for real sexuality between the original Spock and Uhura unless I see actual penetration. I want to see penetration!!!!

I don't think that anyone ever suggested that they were anything more than that.

Let's lobby for the first official R-rated Star Trek ever! :bolian:

Keep it fan-fic, though--some of us don't want that included in canon....

(I mean--Spock and Uhura...getting it on.... Nah...couldn't happen.)
