More Babylon 5

Crap, that reminds me! I never read the final third of Rising Stars! Did it end well? Don't spoil me I have em I just haven't read em yet! :)

Do we know the status of his "Rising Stars" script? I really wanted to see that film.

It's been a long time since that one was mentioned. As I recall, it was being allowed to rest until Heroes ran its course. Don't know anything else.

I went ahead and asked JMS for the usual year-end round-up last night and this is his reply:
Many thanks for that, it was quite enlightening, particularly in contextualizing Forbidden Planet and Lensman as but two of a billion other up-in-the-air projects.

It makes sense there's been no further development. Lensman would be an expensive spectacle but even wth its importance in the space opera canon it's not necessarily something with any marquee value (I'd be hard pressed to name anyone I knew who knew what Lensman is.)

Ah well.

I'd love to see a Midnight Nation feature written & directed by JMS.

I don't know anything about Lensmen beyond what's been said here, but if it's supposed to be a space opera epic, I wonder if a successful Green Lantern next year would convince Universal to move forward on that project.

Lensmen is an old series of books by E.E. (Doc) Smith. They're epic, but written in a style people aren't used to anymore so they're hard to get through.

And I agree, I think JMS would be great directing a Midnight Nation feature, too.
